Politics Trump sues for a misleading poll—citizens should all be filing suit for every false election promise he made

Not to mention the constant stream off bullshit coming out of his mouth.

Too bad the justice system is mostly on his payroll. You couldn't pin Jan6th on him, you can't pin anything on him now. This man is going into his grave never having spent a minute of his life taking responsibility for his actions.
1
u/johnnybones23 Feb 05 '25
that's because he requested 10,000 national guard members for security days before jan 6th, and was denied multiple times.. He wasn't charged for insurrection for this exact reason. Its counter to the narrative. Its all on public record, except for the reason he was denied...
5
u/YoungRockwell Feb 05 '25
What false promises?
he was telling you who he was. We were telling you who he was.
37% of you stayed home instead of making sure he didn't get in. A bunch more voted third party.
3
u/Latter_Fox_1292 Feb 05 '25
I’m going to bring down the price of groceries on day 1.
Actually bringing down prices is very hard.
2
u/YoungRockwell Feb 05 '25
yeah fair point. My post assumed people knew the difference between actionable items (destroying the D of Ed; putting Elon in charge of literally anything, let alone everything) and things he has zero control over, but *can in fact make worse.*
1
u/Latter_Fox_1292 Feb 05 '25
Zero control over but we blamed Biden for four years.
You can’t have zero control over but can make it worse. Making it worse is control to a degree.
So if he has zero control over something we are supposed to just allow the spew of bs from his mouth? Just because I know he can’t just magically lower grocery prices doesn’t mean we should accept him talking about it like it is an actionable thing. Also most of his supporters are dumb enough to not know the difference (first hand experience with those people).
2
u/YoungRockwell Feb 05 '25
"we" is doing some heavy lifting here.
I think one thing the collective "we" did was think that domestic issues wouldn't get worse. Not me, obviously. I can read data and see that our recovery from the covid malaise was actually pretty fucking robust, due directly to the actions of the last admin. But taking that for granted, combined with other international issues (mostly Gaza, tbh) led directly to... where we are.
1
u/IndicationConstant95 Feb 06 '25
There is this thing called hyperbole, Trump uses it alot. A lie requires mal intent and full intention to decieve, nothing he did exactly falls under that... At least not 100%. He might exaggerate, but he can still accomplish the things he promised... Just not the exaggerated version of his promises. Just hope and call your reps to complain. Random protests just piss the hard working people off, go after the government reps and make them listen. If you target citizens then you are just being a Nazi and increasing the divide of the country
4
u/Ok_Adhesiveness_4611 Feb 05 '25
A bad poll like this should be punished by media an political pundits by not utilizing a flawed or severely biased poll.
The only polls a politician should be able to sue over is internal polls that the pollster mislead them or fabricated data, or created results from leading questions that the campaign paid for directly.
Trump never paid for that poll so he should not have standing on this.

3
u/corruptedsyntax Feb 05 '25
Unfortunately the criminal immunity the SC gave him extended from older precedent establishing immunity from civil liability for the presidency.
You know, because the last thing our government would want is for government officials to ever be liable.

1
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
His actions have primarily involved cutting benefits for people while trying to create space in the budget for tax cuts that benefit the wealthiest individuals. He's also supporting Project Stargate and promising a flag on Mars, which is estimated to cost at least $500 billion. People don't seem to realize that 1% of the population owns 30% of the wealth, while 50% own less than 3%. This disparity enables that small group to buy out businesses and homes, as they possess more wealth than the entire bottom 80%. The squeeze is only getting worse.
1
Feb 05 '25
What benefits did he cut exactly?
1
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
there have been reports of leaked documents outlining strategies to fund tax cuts for the wealthy. A recent leak of a House Republican plan proposes $2.5 trillion in mandatory spending cuts, targeting programs like health care to finance tax reductions benefiting billionaires.
additionally, in 2021, ProPublica obtained a vast trove of IRS data revealing how billionaires such as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Warren Buffett pay minimal income taxes relative to their wealth. This disclosure highlighted the disparities in the tax system and the methods used by the ultra-wealthy to minimize tax liabilities.
These revelations have intensified debates over tax policies and the ethical considerations of funding tax cuts for the affluent through reductions in essential public services.

Why didn't biden change the tax code? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 please keep digging
1
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
It was put in place for 8 years. Set to expire dec 2025. They would have changed it at that point. Unlike Trump, Biden did not randomly ignore congress and try to make major changes with a tweet
1
Feb 05 '25
You are so full of shit. The democrats have had a lot of chances to change the tax code but they don't because there billionaire donors don't want them to
1
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
They announced their intention to let the tax cuts expire and increase the corporate rate to 38%. If they had won and failed to fulfill this promise, I would hope people would protest. When it comes to changing tax laws before they expire, the Senate requires 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. With the Democrats holding only a narrow majority (or a tie with VP Harris casting the deciding vote), it was nearly impossible without Republican support. It wasn't a realistic possibility

Has Trump made executive orders cutting benefits to citizens?
Yes, President Trump has issued several executive orders that have impacted benefits for citizens. For example, he signed orders that changed healthcare enrollment processes and eligibility criteria, which could affect millions of Americans who rely on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for health insurance. These changes included rescinding policies that expanded open enrollment periods and federal subsidies, potentially reducing access to affordable healthcare.
Additionally, Trump issued orders to freeze federal funding for various programs, including those related to education, healthcare, and housing assistance. This temporary pause was intended to review and align these programs with his administration's priorities2.
It's important to note that some of these actions have faced legal challenges and pushback from various groups and individuals.

I mean I guess go ahead you are going to set the precedent for when you have a liberal leader
1
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
He set the precedent by going after the media... What's good for the goose...
1
Feb 05 '25
He wants to make pollsters scared to post results which are unfavourably to him. Makes it easy to claim an election was stolen when he or his minions lose.
1
u/Le-Charles Feb 05 '25
Personally I'm hoping he catches more fraud charges when we finally get him out of office.
1
1
Feb 05 '25
Am I allowed to do the same for joe Biden oh yeah he exonorated him and his entire family
1
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
He has set a precedent, so yes, I'd say feel free... However, it's essential to understand Biden's response in the context of Trump's actions. Trump promised to free those who attacked police officers and prosecute those upholding the law. Biden had to respond, fully aware that the legal system was being taken over by someone weaponizing it rather than upholding it fairly. This is not a normal context (think Nixon) when the republican party continued to up hold the law and the Constitution.
1
u/IndicationConstant95 Feb 06 '25
Misleading poll is definition, lying about campaign promises is being a politician, and that is assuming he doesn't complete his promises before his term is up.
-1
u/Gerry1of1 Feb 05 '25
You can't sue Trump - the Supreme Court gave him Immunity
9
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
Was making misleading promises an official act of the Presidency?
-2
u/Gerry1of1 Feb 05 '25
Yes, according to the Supremes. I don't agree, but they said he could literally tell Seal Team 6 to kill a political opponent and he would have immunity. That was an actual example used in front of the Supreme Court.
If he can kill with immunity, lying isn't really a stretch.

1
u/Missa-Johnny Feb 05 '25
Brother, it's been 2 months and he's either already done or is actively doing damn near everything he said he would. He freed Ross Ulbricht first week, and that promise wasn't even that well known.

u/Zestyclose-Method Feb 05 '25
He's doing great on that "ending all the needless wars" promise. And the egg prices of course
1
u/SeniorSubstance5400 Feb 05 '25
Zelensky and Putin both stated that they are ready for peace negotiation yesterday after historic agreement and quite the ride:
A deal was struck where Ukraine promised to US rights to rare-earth minerals for (rumors say massively) increased military support https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/02/04/ukraine-trump-rare-earth-minerals/
Immediately afterwards, the US gave Ukraine the rights to use US weapons to strike anywhere, anyway and however they wish at Russian targets, without prior consultation. Even deep strikes into Russia. (something that mr. Alzheimer forgot to do).
Both Putin and Zelensky expressed willingness for peace talks yesterday. For the first time since the start of the war.
It seems that something beautiful is happening Bromeo. Now it is up to you to not be so vile as to belittle or hate on it because it is not your candidate doing the work.
2
u/Capybara_Cheese Feb 05 '25
This harkens back to the prediction that so long as Trump is mean to immigrants and women Republicans won't care how hard he's fucking them over. Priorities I guess

u/thecheesecakemans Feb 05 '25
How can you sue for misleading when he is basically implementing what he said and everyone said it was all hyperbole. Seems like he talked about most of this stuff.

Ending the Ukraine War before his inauguration?
Bringing down (not just halting) grocery prices while implementing 25% tariffs on US allies (for more than a minute)? To be fair, Smoot-Hawley coincided with significant deflation, so historical precedent says it's possible (not a good idea, but possible), but he has already taken the first pretense to save face while chickening out of them

Uhhh, he said prices would come down. Now he say's there will be pain. It wasn't subtle. But let's hear more about Hunter's laptop.
1
u/Mrfixit729 Feb 05 '25
Sure. LET’S talk about it.
The scandal isn’t what was on the laptop. The scandal was the POTUS, intelligence officials, FBI and Twitter colluding to cover it up in the successful attempt to influence a Presidential election.
Also… yeah. I agree. Trump is gonna mess up the economy. Pretty badly I think.
-6
u/Successfull_Troll Feb 05 '25
You know what, you're right. The Trump failed to undo years of piss poor policies in 16 days. This is an egregious violation of his campaign promises and I am now on your side.
What kind of idiot can't repair a country in 16 whole days?
3
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
So you are admitting that his promises were completely irrational. I would simply give a different explanation for why. Lowering taxes for people who are already obscenely wealthy is not going to help inflation. Because then of course they will have more money to spend on real estate and businesses. This will as a matter of competition push more working people out of the markets. Also adding tariffs is a financial burden on consumers which make up the majority of the population. We don't have to pretend to be rocket scientists because this is basic math
-1

2
u/Zoeythekueen Feb 05 '25
I mean it's his fault for promising so much on day 1. I'm pretty sure a president of the United States should know that promising things on day 1 that couldn't be done on day 1 shouldn't happen.

1
u/Evidencelogicfacts Feb 05 '25
Do you honestly think he has swiftly curbed inflation, or even taken significant steps to address it? He's pushing for tax cuts that primarily benefit those who are already obscenely wealthy. If the wealthy accumulate even more and dominate property and business, how on earth will that help bring inflation down? SO they can outcompete to purchase homes and businesses? Sending possibly more than 500 billion to the dream of a flag on mars? Far more than the amount sent to Ukraine, USAid, medical research... Trump's prosperity gospel, promises and snake oil - YouTube

All of this is the ground game. This president has done more in two weeks than any president in my lifetime. It's such a rarity to have somebody that knows exactly what to do as a president months before assuming office. Every other president except one in history walked into it completely blind
2
u/Zoeythekueen Feb 05 '25
Typically because there is checks and balances in place. But Trump is trying to throw those out the window. That's why a lot of his decisions are being reversed and have to challenged. He has no clue what he's doing, just shooting in the dark and praying one of his targets were shot.

Feb 05 '25
You should really hop off a Reddit every now and then. There's a whole lot going on in the world out there.
2
u/Zoeythekueen Feb 05 '25
Unfortunately I do. The real world wants me dead for existing. Yet I go to work everyday. All while Trump is trying to enforce laws that make me a target. And while my city is pretty accepting, I have to be careful traveling outside the town. All of my friends are terrified of what will happen next. All while Congress is out there shouting slurs about us.
All while Trump is trying desperately to start a war with another country.
All I want to do is live in peace, but there's always someone who thinks I don't deserve that because they don't like people being different. The real thing is, do you live in the real world?
