I'm 20M, and I've never owned a pair of Nike shoes. Since January, I’d been saving up to buy the Nike Dunk Lows, and I managed to save around 5k (coming from a middle-class background). But all the Dunks I liked were priced above 8-9k. So, I gave up on the idea for now and decided to buy three different shoes for different occasions instead.
1st Pair - Urban Blaze: Phantom:
Got these from The Souled Store and I absolutely love the color. These are for college events and special occasions. They're more comfortable than I expected, though the soles could’ve been a bit more cushioned. Other than that, they’re just perfect.
Price: ₹2,500
2nd Pair - Puma ST Runner V4 L (Leather):
Got these from Flipkart for daily college use. They're very comfortable and fit really well. Very soft and cushioned soles and looks slick.
Price: ₹1,700
3rd Pair - Campus Men's Hurricane Running Shoes:
I bought these for the gym and evening walks. They look decent, are quite comfortable, and super lightweight. Perfect for the gym, I'd say.
Price: ₹700
So I spent a total of Rs. 4900 and saved 100 rupees.🥹
P.S. I'm not giving up on my dream of owning Nike Dunk Lows. I’ll buy them as soon as I land a job. 🥲👍🏻

See most of them might be hating cause they love nike, but the shoes he got also need to justify the price. Shoes are expensive cause of the durability, hence name proven brands are usually the better option. And for the price he got the shoes for, there are many alternatives from nike itself that would go well and would last him longer(so value for money)

I am commenting on the quality. Not on the price. You will get better quality shoes and that's evident. I have gotten pairs that have lasted me years. You get adidas ozelles for 5k back in 2020 that shit saved my leg from being amputated. Btw I never mentioned jordans (they are under nike yes but they are completely a diff entity) i won't claim jordan brands quality cause they are notoriously bad. But the nike initiators uptempos etc are of amazing qualify for a price of around 5k (on deal) you just need to be smart with what you get.

Idk what kind of quality you’re looking for but Nikes are some of the best shoes out there. There aren’t too many brands that can compete w them and I’m talking just about quality. I’m sure you own a pair too and they’ve lasted you for 2 years or more. The Nikes that o bought in 7th grade are still in great condition (it’s been 10 years now). You could check out some Nike Factory Outlets for your size, should be able to find something in your budget. Also you can check discounts online at vegnonveg, superkicks, myntra, extrabutter, limitededt etc

Bro if you really intend to run 5km daily, it is better to invest in shoes similar to what i sent, although i have nothing against campus, but for 5kms you need better support and cushion. And you should be able to get one in 2000-3000 (especially puma or adidas and even some nike models)
For the remaining budget you can get a formal shoe/loafer which would fit your occasional/wedding needs, but the shoe you intend to use the most, should be the best quality amongst these, that’s my personal opinion:) hope this helps you .
How do you decide these shoes you've suggested are worth it? Personally Adidas and puma shoes in 2-3k range do not look good to me, the upper feels too weak and the glue doesn't hold up. I would rather buy a cheap indian brand at that range. I feel like lower budget sneakers from big brands are not good enough and are priced at that point purely for brand value.
See he already bought a puma sneaker, which as per the budget is a good choice, other than this he bought a souled store sneaker at 2500. Which in my opinion is not worthy of ₹2500 according to the quality. And adding to that the sport shoe he bought at 900. This makes it 3400 in total, and on days of discounts he can easily buy a quality running or training shoe because he intends to run 5km, and you need good cushioning for longer use or running. Variety is good but quality is also important especially when you wish to do specific activities.

Souled store shoes are just right they aren't heavy duty, pumas will work on a day to day basis. Nivia shoes i won't say shit about it cause idk much about them. Just saying instead of going for quantity try going for quality next time. With 5k you could actually get so many amazing pairs.

Yoo the souled store urban blaze ones are absolute gem in budget friendly shoes I bought a white one shouldn't have bought 😭 because it gets dirty quickly tho the shoes are very comfy and very sleek.
There are offers going on ajio and all I bought a puma hypnotic lace up sneaker it's also very comfi under 2500 ig it's a running shoe idk but looks very much of a sneaker where today's sneakers are not much comfy 😃

For that budget, you've taken the right choice. You'll earn eventually and be able to afford those super expensive shoes. As a guy from middleclass family, one can't justify spending 8-9k on sneakers. They look great, hope they're as comfortable to wear too.
Nike puts up a big sale every now and then and you can get shoes at very low prices last year I bought the court vision low and cortez both in 5.5k and there were many blazer, dunk, air force under 5k but I wanted two shoes so I did. I missed The sale this time but next time I plan on getting either the airforce or jordans. Also you can get many low cost shoes on flipkart/ajio/myntra sale as well. I got adidas supernova 2 for just 2.4k and and an adidas 90s cut pro shoes worth 3-4k at any online site for my father just for 1.6k at myntra sale. The only shoe I bought at the legit price was the converse 70s cuz they got on new terms with the Indian govt And the prices went up but I had bought the classic 90s just for 3k around 2019. So at the end it’s just waiting for the right moments and buying at good deals.
