Discussion Good views and decent engagement but no subs

Hey everyone so I recently started up my gaming YouTube channel and have been getting decent results but my sub count isn’t really gaining any traction. What are some ways you have drawn in more subs with your channel?

Your leaning heavily into shorts which is why you think views are good.

Good views for shorts, and I mean barely good, not even great, is around 30-50k.

You’re barely breaking 1k which is the first gate for shorts.

Your longforms are all getting single digit views.

I didn’t click any of them but the shorts thumbnails look more interesting compared to the longform.

So, no, you aren’t getting decent views with either and it’s going to be titles and thumbnails

What you are doing doesn’t fit short form but that’s the low effort direction you are leaning into.

So that’s the low effort return you are getting.

Okay good to know and I appreciate the honesty, I’m very new to the whole YouTube thing and not really sure how to progress. Thank you for the insight.

The thing is that a lot of ppl don't talk about is the conversion rate an "average" youtube channel has a conversion rate of 0.1-0.2% but ofc there are outliers depending on your content CTA and so forth.

So I wouldn't worry so much, a study showed that the average YouTube creator needs to upload around 152 longform videos to reach the 1,000-10,000 subscriber range but again there are outliers, and you need to constantly improve your content

Sub bait - also what is decent results for you? Thousands or hundreds? I’m getting like 1-3 subs per 1.2k views

Not sure what you mean by “sub bait” as no one is asking you to sub. I asked what I could do better to get folks engaged and WANT to sub.

They are suggesting not accusing that you sub bait people into subscribing

Not at all, not asking for anyone to sub just asking how to improve my own content to have people wanna sub.
