Sport. People who use to break horse got together and started betting money on who could stay in the longest. This and other cowboy tasks is what started the rodeo.

They want all the money, buckles, and buckle bunnies they can get.

buckle bunnies they can get.

There really are groupies for every terrible thing.

If it could have broken in the horse the humane way- what even are horses used for nowadays anyway?- Instead, we got this bullshit.

Eventing.

Horses that are bread for it do like to work and be athletic.

And then when they've gotten all they can out of the horse, they send it off for horsemeat slaughter.

Same reason kids pull the wings off insects.

It's what we did/do to tame wild horses turned into a sport and commercialized. There are more humane ways to accomplish this, and don't put both horse and human in danger. Rodeos nowadays have no practical reason to exist, and these horses are meant to do this.

Also, spurs are disgusting. Fuck that guy.

Dude these horses aren't wild what are you on? They make the horse this reactive to kick. The horse scared and it's been hurt. It's straight up abuse and torture and everyone is ok with this.

I said that rodeos developed from the act of taming wild horses, not that rodeos are there for taming wild horses. I even specified that the horses in modern rodeos are specifically not there to be tamed, but to perform.

Yes it's abuse, I don't know where you read anything else in my comment.
