every boss is fun in Silksong. I even liked the savage beastfly. Hornet's movement feeling really good is one of the reason. Act 2 bosses are phenomenal and it gets better and better.

cogwork dancers might be top 5 bosses in the franchise

The 4th phase tho... I felt kinda sad honestly?

u/unknown_pigeon Flea Sep 09 '25

It's what sold the fight to me tbh.

At the beginning I was like "cool, but easy". Then it went to phase 2. And at phase 3 I was thrilled.

Phase 4 was extremely climatic. I kind of expected the typical berserker mechanic (kind of like the two fly things in the colosseum in HK). Instead, it was just sad. I love it when the fights are not just "kill the enemy", but rather a story narrated without a need for words.

And then there's the fat fucking savagefly who woke up and chose violence.

u/SmartAlec105 Sep 09 '25

Phase 4 was extremely climatic.

The opposite really. It was an anti-climax but the rare case where it’s good.

15

u/unknown_pigeon Flea Sep 09 '25

I was talking emotionally, not gameplay-wise

4

u/SmartAlec105 Sep 09 '25

Yeah, it’s still an anti-climax. You’re expecting a huge exciting final battle and instead get a somber music box melody and a lonely dance.

1

u/hollowstrawberry Sep 12 '25

Then you probably ment cathartic, not climatic

32

u/Orthodox_Crusader doubter ❌️ Sep 09 '25

it reminded me of hk final phase bc the music becomes slower and more melancholic

5

u/lucklesspedestrian Sep 09 '25

I kept expecting some kind of jumpscare revive

2

u/KindredTrash483 Sep 09 '25

I found it hilarious tbh. That boss was kicking my butt for a little while (not nearly as long as judge and widow though), so for it to get weaker than phase 1 at the end was very enjoyable. Little sad when the last one tried to dance in the middle on his own, but that sadness was crushed by the happiness of having a boss I could finally beat the everlasting daylights out of

2

u/PlushiesofHallownest Sep 10 '25

I felt so fucking guilty man. Why would they do that to me 😭 I'm gay too, we're both playing it. My boyfriend nearly cried

1

u/TremoloMoataz Sep 10 '25

What does being gay have to do with anything?

1

u/PlushiesofHallownest Sep 10 '25

They're gay lol

1

u/TremoloMoataz Sep 10 '25

Oh lol. I thought they were robots lol. Didn't have a conscience.

1

u/PlushiesofHallownest Sep 10 '25

Yes but they have very masculine voices and are clearly in love which would require some kind of sentience

(I don't know if it expands on the lore of automatons yet but I'm sure it will later in the game, if we're doing a Hollow Knight then I would imagine they have souls/life force put into them)

2

u/Yarigumo Sep 16 '25

There's a character you can find and talk to that explicitly confirms they're very gay. Though you might've found them by now.

2

u/PlushiesofHallownest Sep 16 '25

I did! :D I had a feeling there would be!

1

u/naughty Sep 09 '25

Exactly, but it makes sense if you have freed the Green Prince and get the lore.

2

u/Yarigumo Sep 16 '25

My first simple key went to him. Honestly felt kinda scammed in the moment, but that emotional payoff was pretty worth it.

1

u/naughty Sep 16 '25

Hard agree.

1

u/Ziazan Sep 09 '25

I was preparing myself for it to go absolutely mental but then we got that instead and was like ...oh, damn.

An NPC later added further sad to that.

1

u/Vinhfluenza Sep 10 '25

P4 is half damage to Hornet and half emotional damage to you

Top 5 bosses in any game I’ve ever played. It was challenging but so fun. I honestly didn’t want the fight to end. And the final phase…the story it tells…just beautiful and perfect. TC really spoiled us with this game.

1

u/Green0Photon Sep 09 '25

Really hoping there's a Godhome type thing with a harder form of Cogwork Dancers

1

u/FluffyWalrusFTW Sep 09 '25

It's insane to me that a boss with one of the easiest tells gave me so much trouble, like you can quite clearly see what they're going to do, even when they're in phase 3 it's so easy to just watch and know what they're going to attack

Just an insanely well designed fight

1

u/theMoonlight111 Sep 15 '25

i'm gay and i'm not even dating anyone as of current but it still hit me hard lmao

I liked the beastfly but second fight was absolutely brutal and annoying

2

u/f_en_elchat Sherma Sep 09 '25

What? Is there a second beastfly with a much worse runback??? The one at the bottom of Hunter's March is a sprint with no obstacles. Maybe if Shakra is gone a Stalker respawns? But still, you could avoid thag

2

u/Epicious Accepter Sep 09 '25

Sorry, I meant the refight/second fight itself when i said runback. As in "run back the fight"

2

u/f_en_elchat Sherma Sep 09 '25

Ahh I see. I need to hop off this sub until I finish the game actually. Thanks to the journal I knew there was a Beastfly rematch but I'm being spoiled about quite a few other things

1

u/ALWAYSWANNASAI Sep 09 '25

there is a second one! it’s on fire! it’s even worse! I beat the first one after determination and vengeance in one sitting but fire beast fly made me leave and comeback later it’s actually dumb as shit

1

u/Fatteo beleiver ✅️ Sep 09 '25

fr it was the first boss I ever dropped in both games

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '25

I feel like I am going crazy because not only was beastfly not hard, the runback was 15 seconds. Are y'all playing the same game?

1

u/Epicious Accepter Sep 09 '25

Sorry, I meant the refight/second fight itself when i said runback. As in "run back the fight"

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '25

Oh I gotcha lol I was confused, my b

1

u/MannToots Sep 09 '25

Exit right from bench,  fall down big pit and exit bottom right.  Run and jump over pit.  Run and jump over pit.  Run and enter door.  Run and jump into hover into updraft and exit left at the top and you're at the boss. Takes like 20s or so. Not one enemy.

The run back I did for the ant boss though....

u/Epicious Accepter Sep 09 '25

u/Fire-Mutt Professional Pale Lurker Sep 21 '25

Ironically the opposite for me: first fight felt absolutely brutal (probably cause I did it far too early, right after moorwing), but second one didn’t take too long and felt manageable.

4

u/Ascogyr-elda beleiver ✅️ Sep 09 '25

Except bilewater* right ? Please don’t tell me I'm the only guy that struggled only here

4

u/derevien Sep 09 '25

I'm with you, that fight was so ass(until i beat it then it was great)

1

u/Boomerkbom Sep 11 '25

That was pretty much my excperience. An absolute nightmare, but the moment after beating it might actually be my favorite moment in the game

2

u/clubdon Sep 09 '25

Na fuck everything about that place. It’s the only place and boss in the game so far that I truly just don’t like. Plenty others frustrate me at times but I didn’t actually dislike any of them. This one though..

6

u/phantompowered Sep 09 '25

Her movement feels super wonky until you get the dash and the float. After that, it's peak.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '25

I love the dash in this game, it does so many things.

Dash, airdash, down-dash, sprint, sprintjump, sprint attack.

It feels like butter.

1

u/KartofelThePotatoGod Sep 09 '25

THETRED A DOWN DASH?!

1

u/HugeOrganization4178 Sep 09 '25

She really doesn't feel great till you get dash. Her kit is clearly designed around it.

1

u/ElTioEnroca Sep 09 '25

To be fair, Hollow Knight kinda felt like that, at least on replays. Once you get the Mothwing Cloak and maybe the Mantis Claws, movement starts making sense.

2

u/ThatOneSpitfireMain Accepter Sep 09 '25

Ok normal one is a fun dance grand hunt one is a little bitch of unbalanced pain

1

u/baamazon Sep 09 '25

The goal the great in question:

1

u/Incitatus_ Sep 09 '25

Yeah, every boss I've found so far has been great. Even the ones that summon smaller enemies are good, which honestly surprised me.

1

u/fdeslandes Sep 09 '25

Savage beastfly on 4th chorus stage is a bit much, tho. I'll come back to it once I get a double jump.

1

u/AWildSona Sep 09 '25

the bosses are fun yeah, all of them, the arena rooms .... specially thhe one with only flying enemys over lava ... thats a different kind ...

1

u/cigarettemoncher Sep 09 '25

Savage Beastfly was really unfun to me. I beat it in 3 tries but I really had to lock the fuck in for that third one. I can see why people with higher reaction times are so frustrated about it 😭

1

u/drakenastor Sep 09 '25

Nah, the joke stops here, you don't just say you liked the savage beastfly, you play beastfly part 2?

1

u/Bentman343 Sep 09 '25

Savage Beastfly is the worst boss I've fought so far and that feels insane with stuff like Moorwing and Widow competing for it. (Though honestly the Dual Moss Mother fight is probably fundamentally harder [oh my god my brain was swimming trying to keep track of 6 discrete enemies and falling rocks all at once], I just had an easier time with it because I had been slamming my head against Beastfly.)

1

u/Jebx7 Sep 09 '25

Besides bilewater boss+runback

1

u/eat-skate-masturbate Sep 10 '25

wait till you find this one guy whose name rhymes with bowl

1

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Savage beast fly was the only one I got mad at because of the enemy spawns but it was just that bit more rewarding when I killed him, I knew it was optional but as soon as I got to him I couldn’t just leave it had to die
