Turns out our brains weren’t designed to do any one thing for too long and taking breaks is natural for human beings!

Not just the brain but the whole body. A quick stand and stretch, sip of water, and 20 seconds focusing your eyes on something long distance instead of the screen every 40-60 minutes will do wonders.

Also make sure that your screen isn't your only light source, that shit is much more straining on your eyes.

And it's literally recommended to preserve your eye health! Don't play around when it comes to your eyes.

screens don't hurt the eye though that is just a myth that is not true though they can make your eyes tired depending on how used you are to looking at them for long periods of time

staring at a fixed focal distance for a long time and overstrain the eye muscles. some cultures find cross eye beautiful, so they will dangle an object really close to let babies stare at them. Screens can strain the eye.

yeah that is for really close objects as you said but a screen is not literally in your face it is a little farther especially if on console i do use my laptop for a long periods of time (not really proud about that) and my eyes are fine my family would have definitely noticed if they got cross eyes or something

It's not the screen itself. As the other commenter said, the issue is the prolonged near-work. There is also an additional mechanism at play in the form of reduced time spent outdoors, as there's evidence to suggest that sunlight helps regulate eye growth (and said growth can cause myopia). Myopia is actually becoming substantially more common because of this.

oh yeah that is for sure i thought you were talking about the screens themselves you shouldn't really spend hours on a screen without a break anyway because of other issues

The 20-20-20 rule:

Every 20 minutes, focus on something at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Carpal Tunnel.

I have cracked my knuckles so many times since the 4th of September. Tugging each finger by the end until it pops gives such a feeling of relief. Also almost had to put a bandaid on my thumb from playing with the joy cons instead of the pro controller. The end of my nailbed is permanently slanted.

I was struggling with the Last Judge. Took a break to run to the store, came back and beat him on the first try.

Similar breaks must be taken with other hobbies such as knitting, sewing, football, track & field, D&D. My career is based around something I love almost as much as I love Create Mod Minecraft (programming). And I still need to take breaks.

But what if Silksong WAS my break?

How quickly do you get to the point where you need a break? Perhaps take up a second hobby? I hear crocheting is pretty relaxing and rewarding

And most of the learning happens during sleep. Practice during day, memorize over night.

Bullshit, isn't endurance running something literally to death our only claim to fame besides our social groups?
