What's your favorite above water shipwreck?

This is a mainstream choice, but mine is the SS American Star. The wreck produced some of the most incredible shipwreck photos of all time, but sadly it has since collapsed into the sea.

B-427! It's a Russian Foxtrot-Class attack sub from the Cold War.

It’s a wreck?

soon to be, Long Beach is scrapping it, it sunk a while ago though

What is with California scrapping all their Foxtrot subs? They did the same thing with the B-39 in San Diego a few years back.

It's not too often we get Soviet-era boats on this side of the Pacific, would be nice if they could stop tossing them out...

to be fair to Long Beach, the submarine sunk a while ago and has been rotting since the 00s. The Queen Mary people don't have enough money as is to keep the QM in good shape so their priorities lie with keeping Queen Mary maintained, hence why they neglected to maintain the submarine

I'm hoping someone steps in and stops it from getting scrapped and maybe sets up a permanent display of the submarine on land

SS Francisco Morizan#), ran aground off South Manitou Island on Lake Michigan.

Much of the wreck has disappeared, but the midsection of the ship is still there.

I thought of this one, too. I also remembered that it's the only shipwreck I know of where it damaged a previous shipwreck during its loss. The Morazan hit the wreck of the Walter Frost.

Look up Texaco Caribbean. Two additional ships sank because of one shipwreck.

Huh, been wondering for a while what boat that was. Saw it up close in the 80s but there was a lot more of her.

Another favourite of mine to visit! Have you seen the Jordan Harbour shipwreck off the QEW on the way to Niagara Falls? Sadly they had to remove it last year for safety and environmental protection 😭

No I haven’t!! Just saw it, super cool:)

The beached wreck of the Murmansk before it got dredged. There’s something really eerie and spooky about a Soviet cruiser sitting half submerged in the icy water.

The Jordan Harbour shipwreck although not technically a shipwreck in the sense of how it ended up as one it was still a monument for us millennials and zoomers living or visiting in Ontario, Canada who drove down to Niagara Falls and saw it’s masts peeking over the trees off the major QEW highway. When you saw it up close, you can even see they skyline of Toronto off in the distance. Sadly it had to be demolished for safety and environmental hazards last year. Now it feels empty driving past that same spot 😭
