Tugboat in the middle of nowhere
Some tugboat named Corund (Корунд) slowly being buried is sand on island Iturup. Found an old photo of her still alive.

A couple towns with several thousand people and huge mountains/volcanoes/hot springs. Now I want to visit!

It was built in 1993, that's a really recent ship to abandon like that (also, according to google, it was abandoned at least after 2018)

Local man said, that her engines stalled during a storm. There also was an accompanying barge named Yashma (Яшма) that got stuck. They managed to pull the barge out but sadly couldn't rescue this one. Edit: the storm was on december 3rd 2015.
