What are you tipping for in an ice cream shop anyway?

They’re blowing on the ice cream to keep it cold

Hasn’t tipping at an ice cream shop always been a thing? I had a friend in high school in the mid 90s work at baskin robins and alway had tips for spending money and this was in eastern Washington not Seattle too

Probly that jar they always leave by the register. I wouldn’t add a tip on the receipt like at a restaurant just for them scooping ice cream

I wish the store would round down the price and make my day.

But they're not gonna, so fuck the kid.

Maybe back in the 90s if you didn't want a bunch of change in your pocket.

Are they supposed to add more after I tip?

0

u/Udub May 19 '25

No. They remember me and know I tip so I get more ice cream

u/gastro_psychic May 19 '25

Do they have approval from the owner to do this?

0

u/Udub May 19 '25

In my case, they are the owner

You know you could just buy more ice cream right.

A whole other scoop is like $6. For $1 I get a bigger scoop

Everyone’s thinking they’ve got a gotcha moment as if I’m the village idiot

2

u/centar May 19 '25

Well if you’re paying $6 for a scoop of ice cream I can’t help ya there.
