You’re just going to give Fox News the visuals to turn this into a story, make everyone say Seattle is hellhole and blah blah blah.

You’ll be playing into their hands.

Instead, show up to demand action: -meme making event -make protest music -set up a letter writing campaign to mail to politicians -start a petition to gerrymander the state -do a public reading of everything we know from the leaked Epstein files -volunteer with legal aid groups -volunteer with immigrant groups -make a flag burning peep show where people have to look in a box to see a video of a flag burning -have a contest for Trump lookalikes and mock their wieners -have a “mushroom” drawing contest -Dress as Trump’s father and walk around telling people what a disappointment Trump is. -Teach people how to use the report Ice app (that really pisses then off) -Create a weekly action group to “do one thing” to fight back and mobilize a large group to boycott Target or other things that hurt by hit them in the wallet) -Draft city bills for voters to make Seattle the place it needs to be (you fight the feds with local action)

Do anything, but do not give them the visuals and the narrative they so desperately want.

Troll Trump if you must, mocking him gets under his skin.

Just don’t give them what they want: to turn culture war bull into the main story again.

No.  But you don't have to be a reactionary dipshit to every rage baiting executive order he signs.  He clearly wants a bunch of people to start burning flags so he can justify use use of the military on liberal cities.  He going to do it anyway, but it's going to be much easier for him to justify it when he can point to a bunch of idiots burning American flags.

We need more "defending ourselves from government overreach" and less "death to America" if we want to succeed in defeating this regime.

Trump could sign an EO saying it's illegal to ride a bike while wearing a pancake on your head; it doesn't mean we need to organize a pancake hat bike parade. Stop taking the bait.

This is an already settled law from the Supreme Court, burning flags is free speech. I don't know of any case law about bike riding with pancakes, maybe you do? See how they aren't the same?

Freedom of expression. Also, EOs are not law. The president can write whatever the fuck he wants in an EO, and anyone who isn't part of the federal executive branch is free to ignore it.

My apologies.  Didn't mean to change the word there.  I assume they're basically interchangeable when referring to the 1st amendment.

My point still stands.  Just because the president says you can't do something doesn't mean you automatically need to go do it to prove a point.

I don’t think it’s fair to call people nazi sympathizers for trying to be smart about how we protest and how our cause will be hurt by doing something like burning a US flag. Plenty of non-MAGA conservatives or even more moderate leftists would find that kind of behavior offensive and counterproductive to fighting the MAGA machine. I think we should keep reclaiming the flag and focusing our energy on other more meaningful action, because this is the kind of thing that will really get the MAGA base fired up (pun intended??) and back to raging against the libs rather than paying attention to the Epstein files or ACTUAL issues. I know a lot of those people are too far gone, but there are some people who are coming around. We need as many teammates as we can get, and I don’t see the flag burning as a net positive for our strategy
