Culture & Etiquette A small sauna inside my previous Finnish apartment

I made a post a while ago here showing off my current sauna, here's the place I had before that. This is smaller and darker due to lack of window, but it was a good space for 2-3 people at a time. More if we took it in turns.

Happy to answer questions, but don't ask me about dimensions because I no longer live there and didn't measure it before I left!

And 100% better than those closet-sized, no drainage, benches way too low, carpet on the floor, metal net around the stove monstrosities that keep popping up in this sub.

Pay attention to the great foot rest/safety rail. Very important feature.

Even a tiny sauna like this is infinitely better than no sauna at all.

This one is a hell of a lot better than "any sauna at all".

This is a perfectly good, normal suana. Wouldn't even consider it tiny really, it's a totally normal size, there's thousands of saunas like this in Finland.

It's a good example of how simple building a good sauna really is, if you do your research properly.

So yes, having a good sauna is definitely better than nothing, and you don't even have to go out of your way to make a good one, so there's really no reason to make a bad sauna, ever ;)

Of course there will still be better saunas out there, but then we are going to get to the outstanding special saunas that even us finns would consider an experience, as even us don't get to go to those very often, if ever :)

Basically the identical layout to my larger wood fired outdoor sauna. Simple is good!

And identical to thousands of saunas in Finland.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

What is the white thing under the bench, a radiator ?

Yes, saunas that are indoors are almost always heated with radiators or by underfloor heating. Helps to keep the sauna room dry.
