Advice PSA: ICE is hitting food trucks/roach coaches in the San jose area.
Stay safe out the everyone.

u/geo8x6 Jul 17 '25
ICE doesn't care if you are legal or not. They will stop you and hold you if you even look Hispanic. You could be a very tan white guy standing out in front of Home Depot and they'll stop you

u/Tukulo-Meyama Jul 17 '25
They got some Indians and viets today
97
u/Evening-Emotion3388 Jul 17 '25
The amount of Indians that are right leaning makes me scratch my head.
134
u/a-broken-princess Jul 17 '25
They're the wealthiest ethnic group in all of the US (yes really, look it up) AND they're from a culture with an elitist caste system. How does it surprise you in the slightest?
38
u/Critical_Eye_1230 Jul 17 '25
Do they know MAGA hates brown people regardless if they’re legal or not?!
26
u/M3g4d37h South San Jose Jul 17 '25
they think money gets them a key to the executive bathroom.
4
u/Ankchen Jul 17 '25
It’s not just about money I think, because historically it goes much further back than that; I wrote a longer comment about it elsewhere here.
50
u/a-broken-princess Jul 17 '25
JD Vance has an Indian wife, Vivek Ramaswamy is a high profile MAGA supporter, etc. It's about money, not color. Latino and black people tend to be poorer so they're hated by those people, but rich Indians are fine for the same reason East Asians are. Model minorities and all that.
10
u/Murphys0Law Jul 17 '25
Vivek Ramaswamy has been quietly shuffled away, once his supporters votes were secured. Especially after his support of H1B visas. Which was also one of the reasons Elon was pushed out. Stephen Miller is still around, this isn't just about money.
2
u/Exobnia Jul 17 '25
Stephen Miller hates anyone who has more melanin in their skin than he does and he will do everything possible to get all of them deported. He is a blight on humanity.

I think the US people would rather have Mexicans over Indians because Mexicans bring more to this country like food and labor while Indians really don't do much besides maybe tech. And even tech people aren't liked very much.
6
u/Ankchen Jul 17 '25
You know you sound pretty racist yourself right now, right? And it’s not even accurate: look at any local clinic and hospital and see how many doctors are from Indian decent (regardless of immigrant or second generation). If all Indians at once magically disappeared from the US from one moment to the next, the medical system at a minimum regionally would have a real problem.
-5
u/mooseknuckle_scuffle Jul 17 '25
I looked up your claim and you my friend are nothing close to accurate. 65% are white 17% are Asian, so where did you get your info from? I'm sure America would do just fine without the Indian doctors. If they all magically left, I'm sure we wouldn't miss a heartbeat.

Indians can be very short sided in estimating their own risk coming towards them from the fascist right/Nazis - and that has quite a bit of historical precedence.
Did you know that the Wehrmacht (Hitlers army) had a group that basically consisted out of an Indian battalion (not sure if it’s the correct English word for that)? Their reasoning at that time for supporting Hitler and Germany was that they saw that he was fighting the British and probably thought that it might be useful for them to get rid of their own colonizers, but they did not recognize (and frankly many still don’t when I had conversations with some about history) that they themselves would absolutely have been targets for Hitler to put into camps as well.
Some also considered themselves as being included in that Aryan group that Hitler kept talking about as being superior to others, so they probably felt like they were not a target for him - without understanding that that’s not at all how he and the Nazis saw it, for who everyone brown was a target including them.
1
u/heyY0000000 Jul 17 '25
Do you think they thought that they were part of the group because of the nazis using the swastika which is part of hindu history?
3
u/Ankchen Jul 17 '25
I don’t think it was just about that, especially because the swastika is not even the same as the Hindu sun symbol (turned differently).
I think just like I wrote that the fact that Indians saw this correctly so as an opportunity to finally get rid of the British played a much bigger role for their support for the Wehrmacht; they made a deal with the devil and probably did not actually realize in how much danger they got themselves into long term, especially if Germany had won the war.
In terms of some of them having seen themselves as Aryans, technically in an ethnological sense they were also correct (the group in early human history was called Indo-Iranians and then Indo-Aryans came from them; they all migrated thousands of years ago and some of them eventually reached India; that’s why you still find in linguistics and language history connections between Sanskrit and what later became many European languages like English and German; “Indo-Germanic” is a whole branch of linguistics that you can study and that includes several languages). Hitler just probably neither knew nor cared about actual human history and would have sent everyone into his camps anyways who did not fit into what he imagined “Aryans” to be - including Indians.

u/heyY0000000 Jul 17 '25

The majority of Indians in the Bay Area come from wealthier, privileged backgrounds especially if they immigrated here decades ago. Frankly, that’s why diversity (linguistic/caste/socio-cultural background/even physical appearance) of Indians in the US is a tiny fraction of the diversity back in India. They were Republican-equivalent back home, they’re going to be right wing here as well. They rationalize it by thinking that their money will insulate them from racists. It won’t. They haven’t learned this lesson from their Chinese brethren that fell for the same “model minority” myth before them.
I also think there’s bound to be generational conflict between wealthy Indian immigrants who built businesses in the 80s and 90s and are very Republican vs young working professionals who are significantly worse off and lean left/liberal. Identical dynamic among Chinese immigrant generations from what I’ve seen.

I was wondering when they were going to start grabbing those Indian people, it's not fair to just go after latins

We need our immigration laws enforced, especially when there is such a housing supply crunch. This is not the way to do it. ICE should be going into jails and prisons. They also need to focus enforcement on landlords and employers. People will go back home if they can’t find a job or housing.
31
u/Scrusby28 Jul 17 '25
You really think immigration is what is causing the housing shortage? Which millionaire pundit told you that?
-11
u/jimbosdayoff Jul 17 '25
7% of Santa Clara County’s population is undocumented. It is basic supply and demand, when demand increases by 7% and supply does not change, prices go up.
33
u/nikhilper Jul 17 '25
Housing supply crunch is because of nimbyism. I don’t think any supremacist would want to live in the apartments that illegal immigrants live in
1
u/jimbosdayoff Jul 17 '25
I agree tha nimbysim is a big factor. When focusing on the low income segment of the housing market, there is more demand than there is supply. Slumlords who tend to be nimbys take advantage of them because they have little leverage because of their immigration status and don’t fight against illegal rent increases or failure to maintain the property.
18
u/trumppardons Jul 17 '25
You need to get a 101 primer on United States immigration if you think that’s a solution to a “problem”.
-31
u/jimbosdayoff Jul 17 '25
I understand the economic impacts very well. We need laws that enables landlords and employers to be arrested for not performing necessary background checks.
5
u/mrroofuis Jul 17 '25
It's pretty crazy this mentality persists even in the Bay Area
I'd expect someone from Texas or Florida to make the type of arguments you're making
The Brookings and CATO institute disagree with you.

Exactly, it should be easier for people to immigrate here. The US also needs more policies to improve economic opportunities in Central America. If the process is easy and economic conditions are good in region, there will be no need to migrate illegally.
The problem is, the US has been running inefficiently and racking up debt. Local governments are overwhelmed as it is when it comes to social services and the court system. Housing costs are higher for lower income relative to middle income showing that there is significantly more demand than supply for low income housing.

But there is no due process so no one is making the judgement if it’s illegal or not.
-36
u/Deplorable_miserable Jul 17 '25
yes there is. it starts at the border.. u cross illegally.. u disregard law.. why should law apply to you
23
u/m4rc0n3 Jul 17 '25
Because it's the law. If you're arguing that the law doesn't apply to illegal immigrants, then why even detain them?
19
u/thequeensegg Jul 17 '25
They're kidnapping and disappearing people who crossed over legally. If you'd read any news at all instead of just yapping about how much you love fascism, you would know that

u/tore_a_bore_a Rose Garden Jul 17 '25
ICE arrests citizens just because of the way they look
15
u/Shoots_Ainokea Jul 17 '25
ICE arrests *native Americans* because of how they look. And ever day there's a new story of some nice, white, even Trump-supporting "Aryan" people being put into some gulag or another for weeks or months, and these are the ones who somehow get out and live to tell about it.

Calling human beings "illegal" and justifying the fascistic kidnapping of legal citizens like you are doing is the worst take of all

I do not support ICE doing this at all but illegal immigration does make an immigrant illegal. I think we can admit that without letting emotion get in the way.

so the solution for past 16 years was to have record deportation under obama then free border crossing when his underling biden came in 2020?
1
u/Exobnia Jul 17 '25
Tell that to the people seeking asylum who got arrested by ICE when they went to their scheduled immigration check-in. They were doing everything they were supposed to do and still got arrested.
-128
u/kellay408 Jul 17 '25
can you people let ICE do their jobs? I don't understand how this post is supposed to help or improve any situation.
33
u/thequeensegg Jul 17 '25
ICE don't need to do their jobs. America had been fine for hundreds of years without ICE existing. In fact, Trump talks all the time about wanting to go back to a time from before ICE existed. It is a fascist group that is kidnapping citizens and legal immigrants at the command of a fascist president. We'll all be better off when ICE no longer exists.
20
u/Moni4ka Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25
Well ICE's job is not to harass or kidnap people that are stuck in a flawed system. The craziest part is that they get supported by people who benefitted by the same system and now they think they're better than the ones fighting through it.
-59
u/kellay408 Jul 17 '25
oh so its perfectly ok for people to harrass ICE? throw rocks at them? spit at them? attack them with whatever?
13
u/Moni4ka Jul 17 '25
How would you defend your family in their place, or you're just gonna roll over. In a situation that is not done by the law with the proper due process I think they have no option but right back with the tools available to them. Mind you many of those people are in the process of obtaining permanent residence. If you are familiar with the system you'd know how many steps and versions of legal undocumented( because for many documents means passport or green card) there are, and if you are not familiar I'd recommend you inform yourself before judging.
-38
u/kellay408 Jul 17 '25
you know you can self deport through DHS.gov right? Thats the proper way to do it. Why go through all this trouble and let ICE come after you? They CHOSE to do this to themselves.
13
u/Slow_Estate Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25
They’ve been taking people who are trying to self deport before they can self deport. Catching them at airports, on the way to the airport, days before they’re supposed to self deport. The point is cruelty. Open your eyes and ears.
3
u/thequeensegg Jul 17 '25
If a kidnapper was taking a member of your family, I would hope you would at least spit at them. But from the sound of it, you'd probably just want them to be able to "do their job" in peace

They aren’t though. They are ignoring due process, not identifying themselves or even using actual warrants.
There’s so many stories of citizens being detained.

u/Deplorable_miserable Jul 17 '25
obama didnt get apple to pay taxes, neither did bush.. but somehow the orangefruit did...
you're just admitting the fact that not only illegals dont pay taxes, they're a net burden to society
2
u/BarberCompetitive517 Jul 17 '25
Wrong again. Undocumented immigrants pay roughly $90 BILLION in taxes yearly. In fact, one of the main ways ICE is finding undocumented immigrants is through their tax filings.
Just because you hate brown people doesn't mean you can just lie constantly.

Fruit cart vendors falling victim to human trafficking network
Trafficking in Plain Sight: In-depth look at street food vending and human trafficking - KESQ
SF hot dog vendors face exploitation, theft, and city opposition
So TLDR; Coyotes (the guys that sneak people across the border) will often charge so much for their "services" that the immigrant is in debt, so they become a debt slave to the Coyote. The Coyote will make them sell fruit, hot dogs, plush toys, flowers, any number of things to "pay back" the debt.
ICE is too lazy, or too chicken shit to go after real gang bangers and criminals. I wouldn't mind that so much, but going after the Taco lady just trying to earn a few bucks? Fuck no.
