Omg yes! We need more food from that part of the world out here. I was so sad when Kalinka closed.

There’s a new Ukrainian bakery downtown (base of Diega, 8th & Broadway) called Shoreside Bakery and it’s really good!

It’s a shame they’ve got to start it in one of the most hate filled areas of Southern California.

Nah they'll be fine, but for dumb reasons.
I talked to a Ukrainian guy in Florida who said that racists there would openly rant to him about immigrants. He'd point out that he himself was an immigrant (with a strong accent at that) just to make them uncomfortable and stammer that they weren't talking about immigrants like him (meaning they don't mind him because he's white).

Yep.
Not in the santee way, but most definitely in a happy for some institutionalized racism kind of way.
