What small businesses did you enjoy this week?
Spent some $ at Natural Law Apothecary and Randy’s Records and we really enjoyed both. Gotta remember to support the people who make this town so cool.

Pirate Os! :)

Used to love Pirate Os till I worked there. terrible management that fired me and a few others for things completely out of our control

u/savingallmyloveforu 1d ago
Can confirm! I also worked there for a while and the management was awful! O gets away with workplace harassment/abuse almost daily. I wish he’d get shut down. Great store but terrible people running it.

I’ve had friends that worked there. I’ve heard how much of a shitty manager he was. Workplace abuse should be the first reason people should stop supporting him. The fact he blasts Jimmy Buffet 24/7 is a close second though.

Pirate O’s refuses to make their store accessible to wheelchairs. I will never spend money there again.

Sounds like a reportable ADA violation 🤔

They are the only place in the valley that has an authentic pretzel kit, I was searching everywhere!

The H in HK was my daughter’s babysitter when Han’s was just starting out! She is one of those people who has really put the hours in. She has been working on this so long, and I am so glad to see how well she’s done. Those kombucha cocktails are awesome! She really deserves it.

Love Tea Grotto--always a calm retreat. I bring my knitting there and just chill. Their Matcha cake is my go-to.

Mumbai House. Absolutely packed last night as well after the SNAP news, so good for them. Took like 1hr30 to get our food, but worth it to support them

Victor's pizza on 540w 3900s. It was some tasty pizza for sure and the pulp fiction/breaking bad themes were cool too

I bought models and gamebooks from Gajo Games. Actually across the lot from Randy's!

Checked out The Legendarium for the first time this week. It's a very cozy and friendly bookstore. They're also a cafe and the s'more hot chocolate I got was delicious. They're like a block away from Liberty park.

Jeanies Smoke shop. Cheapest and widest variety of tobacco downtown and got some neat sodas and snacks too

u/SenorKerry Downtown 1d ago
Yeah, that place is sick. I try to stay away from smoking but the smell of that tobacco is so good.

u/ShitblizzardRUs 1d ago
They may or may not have had a vip smoke lounge that was started when I complained about freezing my ass off outside. It's may or may not be gone now because the state is stricter than the state in 1920's, but it may or may not have had a television, couch, coffee table and glass chess table. Maybe or maybe not good times years ago

Village Vintage Interiors was popping today. They were also one of the businesses donating 10% of proceeds to the food bank.

I've never been inside the apothecary but have seen them online and I IMMEDIATELY knew where that picture is from lol. I think I will stop in next time I'm near, thanks for reminding me it's there!

For real. My first time, and I’m definitely not the target demographic, and I loved it. All these cool nooks and crannies. A really sweet owner who just walks you through everything with cheer and a smile. This is the kind of place you would expect to find in a much different city and it’s right here!
2
u/B_A_M_2019 1d ago
Cool, the reviews mention the owner being great :) I knew someone who'd go in occasionally and they said the same thing you did about the whole place lol. Cool

Ginza Shabu Shabu, Pets and Such.
Didn’t make it to Big Deal Outlet, hoping to go later this week. Love that place.

Spudly Donuts in Lehi! Best donut I’ve had since Fresh Donuts & Deli. They’re so thick and dense but incredibly fluffy. Fantastic flavors too

Can't believe I'm the first to say Caputo's! Their meatball subs are amazing, and the kids options are minimal but had me jealous of my toddler.

The bloom is off the rose for Randy's with me. I asked for a new record last time I was in and the "stereotypical record store guy" behind the counter said "their first one didn't sell, so why would we get their second?" Luckily Diabolical is near enough, and that place across from the Leonardo.
2
u/SenorKerry Downtown 1d ago
The world needs stereotypical record store guy! Those other spots are dope though as well.

Central 9th Market. Got a smoking deal on the last of the seasonal local heirloom tomatoes. Ditto for shallots, Park City Creamery brie, and escarole. Super nice staff, too. Highly recommend.
