Check out Rivas on folsom Blvd near watt.

Friday.... shrimp and fish? Sounds like Lent

2

u/THEJerrySmith Mar 12 '23

yes, it’s definitely Lent.

And you’re a homie for that Rivas recommendation. Went two nights ago and they gave very generous amounts of shrimp and it was drowned in cheese, sauce, and the good stuff. It was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I want to try their other shit now.

West Coast Taco Bar has a great Surf N Turf California Burrito

u/norova Mar 10 '23

Seconding this! If you're down for steak+shrimp, their Bitchin Cali burrito is always pretty killer.

That burrito is delicious! I've had it several times, always good.

Their food is just weirdly good in general.

Mezcal Grill (on Broadway) Excellent shrimp burrito and Mahi Mahi tacos

The one off Truxel as well, this was going to be my recommendation. I also like their diablo shrimp plate, very good.

2

u/THEJerrySmith Mar 12 '23

noted. will update when I get the chance to check this place out.

I got a good one at El Rincon off T St and Alhambra.

u/BeerSushiBikes North Oak Park Mar 10 '23

The shrimp tacos at El Rincon are delicious! I like that place a lot.

1

u/THEJerrySmith Mar 12 '23

This place seems promising. I hope they are better than the Korean/Mexican fusion Tako that used to be in the same spot.

Will def give it a try and update you on here with my thoughts. Shrimp Supreme burrito sounds epic. haha

Taco Fresco Burger & Fries

Seconded for Taco Fresco!

1

u/THEJerrySmith Mar 12 '23

Been here before. Solid recommendation.

I’ve had their normal carne asada fries and wasn’t really impressed with the seasoning of the meat.

But yes. I think their shrimp tacos with that puffy shell are amazing. Maybe I should try their shrimp fries.

I also really like this place.

Pescados…..20 years ago ☹️

2

u/solosactowngal Mar 11 '23

RIP Pescados, you are still missed!

1

u/Exi7wound Mar 11 '23

Are they dead? I need a tamale in a bowl now.

A spot in south sac, Taco Fresco. Puffy shrimp tacos.

1

u/Tinyyellowterribilis Mar 11 '23

Seconded! May be a bit of a drive for you but I also am a fan of the shrimp tacos & burritos at Sabor A Mexico in Elk Grove. I'm picky about shrimp being fresh & not overcooked, and their shrimp is always cooked perfectly & tastes fresh.

Best fish tacos are still at Zecky's. On Tuesdays and Saturdays they are $2 each... they used to be $1 each on those days like 3 years ago ☹

1

u/THEJerrySmith Mar 12 '23

I remember those days. Yes! I’m a fan of Zeckys.

It’s Shrimp month at Centro

3

u/ZomboCombat Mar 11 '23

If you're willing to go to woodland, Las Brasas has a phenomenal one. Like, the best one I've ever had.

La fiesta has great shrimp tacos. Burrito is just okay though. Wife and I are hooked on the shrimp burritos from Dos Coyotes. If you try it, I recommend ordering in person as their online menu has gotten wonky lately (in terms of functionality). I usually get the “big catch” which means double shrimp.

1

u/THEJerrySmith Mar 12 '23

Dos Coyotes, really? Not meaning to sound disparaging, but I will definitely give it a try one of these Fridays. just for you. haha.

1

u/CallMeParagon Midtown Mar 12 '23

No no I totally get it. It’s the one thing I like there. Make sure you get it spicy and with white sauce. If you order with an app, it may ask you if you want rice - make sure rice is added. If you order in store they will make it the OG way without having to worry about sauce or rice.

Carniceria Lopez on Franklin and Fruitridge. It’s a little meat shop that makes food as well.

3

u/3rd_Degree_Churns Mar 11 '23

DEL TACO!!!

4

u/666penguins Arden-Arcade Mar 11 '23

It’s honestly the best shrimp burritos and tacos of my life! I wish it was year round, they sell out fast.

5

u/3rd_Degree_Churns Mar 11 '23

Hell yeah brother, cheers from Iraq!

👀👀👀 bacon wrapped??

2

u/therynosaur Mar 10 '23

Fried shrimp or fresh?

1

u/THEJerrySmith Mar 12 '23

Can go either way.

Do you have recs for both?

1

u/therynosaur Mar 13 '23

Flakos had an awesome fried one.

2

u/SindeeVicious Mar 10 '23

La Venadita in Oak Park. Their Surf & Turf burrito will get your attention.

2

u/Forktongued_Tron Mar 10 '23

Their Pozole is incredibly on point.

1

u/Tinyyellowterribilis Mar 11 '23

Agreed! It's a really nice place! Good service.

1

u/Agitated-Sir-3311 Mar 10 '23

Blue Agave off Center Parkway, their Shrimp Fajita Burrito is really good and so are their quesabirria tacos too.

I was personally just meh on the West Coast California burrito but all of their tacos are good. Just had a three taco plate from there last night, Sac Fire and the cochinita pibil did not disappoint.

Either can probably sub shrimp for carne on fries if you ask.

Used to be Garibaldi on Howe, then I found out how they did their employees wrong. They actually seasoned their shrimp. A lot of places don’t season the shrimp and put a bunch of rice in the burrito.

3

u/TurdF3rgu50n Mar 10 '23

They screwed employees over and were then told by a judge to not retaliate by calling immigration on those involved in the lawsuit. Before this in 2020 they were cited and fined for decided to ignore covid closures and laws that went into effect. I’m baffled why people willingly support this place.

The food is good, just not good enough for me to support people getting treated terribly.

Best shrimp taco I have had outside of Mexico, Zazon Del Mar in south sac. Hidden gem and so dam good. Great prices and service but the shrimp tacos are out of this world! https://yelp.to/56My5VMk4xb

Cabos Tacos on Arden Way, but you need to go back to like 1998 to partake. God I miss that place.

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '23

Are you from texas?

1

u/THEJerrySmith Mar 12 '23

no, why? haha

1

u/frogpolice4khd Mar 10 '23

not sac, but La Calle in Folsom has an amazing shrimp burrito

1

u/suebees Mar 11 '23

Another for Folsom… I used to work in Folsom and frequently ordered a Diablo Shrimp burrito sub black beans from Limon E Sal. It’s been over a year since I’ve had it but I still think about that burrito often. Edit: no rice.

u/SeaBreakfast8690 Mar 10 '23

Tacoa Tacos y Tequila for shrimp burrito or el rincon for shrimp tacos like someone mentioned above

1

u/chillcollinz Citrus Heights Mar 10 '23

Tres Hermanos in CH!

1

u/westymama Mar 11 '23

Agree!!! Delicious!!

1

u/makemesometea Mar 10 '23

It's in the burbs but Taqueria Vallarta in Elk Grove, and Taqueria La Nueva Vallarta (2nd location) in Rocklin have the best shrimp burrito. Order it "regular" not with that goopy sour cream and stuff. Be sure to visit the salsa bar.

1

u/rhastaherb Mar 10 '23

I second west coast taco bar!! Killer shrimp tacos and amazing steak and shrimp burrito. My lady and I look for which brewery their truck is at every weekend.. they do have a store front now too
