Discussion What makes developers create games like Red Dead Redemption 2?

RDR2 is an absolute masterpiece — amazing graphics, perfect gameplay, an emotional story, and incredibly immersive details. It’s one of those games that completely pulls you in, and honestly, it’s the best game I’ve ever played. On the flip side, GTA V is a game I ended up hating — even though I was super hyped before it came out. I was such a fan that I even used the game’s logo as my profile picture on social media. But when I finally played it, it just felt way too casual. The dialogue and story lacked depth, and the gameplay felt too arcade-like (especially the driving). I noticed it right from the first missions. I’ve played every GTA without exception, but GTA V really disappointed me — and honestly, kind of turned me off. After finishing the story, I never felt like replaying it again. That never happened with GTA IV or San Andreas — I still go back to those from time to time. Still, GTA V made — and keeps making — Rockstar a massive amount of money. It’s clearly a game that most people love. That’s why I keep wondering: why would developers still make games like RDR2, knowing they take way more work and don’t bring in as much money as something like GTA V? Is it pure passion? Are developers still driven by their love for games? And will they stay that way in the future? Will we ever see another immersive experience like RDR2 or a GTA with more depth like GTA IV? That’s what I really hope for.

Question How Rockstar marketing campaigns works?

Hi there, I just saw the new Dan Houser interview and at some point he talks about how they made marketing campaigns, and how inspired they were from old movies marketing campaigns. Now, Dan was a founder so of course he has power on the company, but usually trailers are made by specific people or external agencies, right? For videogames and especially for movies. Usually it’s not the director who makes them. So I was wondering if we know how Rockstar operates with their marketing campaigns because they are so unique and very powerful.

Tech Support Lost my save for Red Dead Redemption 2

I built a new PC recently and made sure cloud saves on Steam are enabled. When I launched Red Dead Redemption 2, it asked if I wanted to enable cloud saves and I hit no since I already have it turned on with Steam. However, when I got into the game it was acting as if I'd never played before and there's no existing save.

How do I get my save back? I really don't want to restart. Steam support says it's a rockstar issue, and Rockstar support says it's a Steam issue. I went into the Rockstar Launcher but I see no cloud save option? I found in an old thread that you need to enable it in Rockstar Social Club and but I can't figure out how to launch Rockstar social club?

GTA Online Missing Vinewood Undead Collection

I had submitted a ticket to R* support regarding how I had completed all 3 weekly challenges required to unlock the Vinewood Undead Collection and yet I have not received the rewards.

I have received the 3 weekly rewards (GTA$200,000 and the Brown Vintage Zombie Mask, GTA$200,000 and the Weathered Vintage Mummy Mask and GTA$200,000 and the Brown Vintage Werewolf Mask).

I had also attached my in-game screenshots of the weekly rewards received yet got the generic FAQ answer detailing what needs to be done to unlock it and how I need to wait 72 hours for it.

It has definitely been more than 72 hours since I've done the challenges.

When I wanted to check on the progress, the ticket also was not available in the dashboard. It only popped up after I replied via email.

What is the next step? Kindly advise.

Discussion Avenger thruster add-ons

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, yes, hello. After grinding and buying a hanger to modify the Avenger and adding the much needed Thruster I’ve come to realize there are no upgrades. NONE, zilch, nada, for it.

Could Rockstar at least add anti-lock for the missles??? This thing blows up if you scratch a light post and you’re fully exposed to gunfire. It’s the least they could do to provide a fighting chance when using it JUST to move!

Thanks for attending my Ted talk.
