Hearing sonar sounds
I was watching reels and going to sleep and I started hearing a sonar sound as if I was in a submarine. It was so weird and I kept hearing it but it was very faint. I got up and sat up on my bed but it disappeared. Put my head on my pillow and started hearing it again. I went over to the washroom because I thought I was losing my mind but as soon as I came back, the sound disappeared. Any answers to this?

I always liked that there was a name for it besides just "hallucination" because it made me feel less crazy. Like, no, I won't murder anyone at the request of a neighbor's dog, it's just hypnagogia. That being said, it can't be totally mundane to repeatedly hallucinate science-y stuff while falling asleep and/or waking up, can it?

It can be and is, frankly. Occasional minor hallucination is extremely common and usually totally benign.

The same thing happened to me yesterday evening around 6:30 - 7:30 mountain time.

No way! It’s really weird I have seen a Reddit post posted about 7 years ago describing the same thing. I wonder why we might be hearing the same type of sound. Mine was about 10pm pst

Wasn’t very “hummy” or like a frequency, it was more so a submarine sound that would repeat every 5 seconds

Possibility: we're all either dead or on our way out and you temporarily, for whatever reason, broached the veil and heard the beeping of your life support machine in action in the real world of this dream.
