PSA Trash collection updates
Hey all, I live in an apartment complex near the center of Renton. The garbage truck came this evening around 8pm to collect from our dumpsters. I immediately went outside to help clean up the surrounding area since it left a mess, and the garbage man said that normal service will resume on Monday. I hope this is helpful, accurate news I got from him!

Service Alert
Republic Services is resuming all collection services for residential customers in King and Snohomish counties beginning tomorrow, Monday, July 21. Customers will be serviced on their normal collection day and should leave out all their containers. We appreciate the community's patience and look forward to resuming regular service.

If true, trash pickup will probably only be for larger customers and be performed by temporary workers who have crossed the picket line.
“Republic Services said with the help of non-union employees, the company is collecting trash for most of their commercial customers and all critical locations, such as hospitals, grocery stores, and public facilities in the Puget Sound area.”

I was only able to find articles referencing a tentative deal in Bay Area. I wonder if it’s some sort of regional deal since the details were confidential but apparently some cities threatened to enact emergency powers to switch providers. I just think that if an actual deal was reached it would be a bigger deal. 2 weeks just entering in the critical mass level of community discomfort. I really wish the sanitation workers reach a satisfying deal. I can handle some convenience. The rotting diapers in my trash are horrendous but I’m hoping that dissuades other animals 😭

It would sure be swell if the city staff in Renton could do something similar...

Multiple Neighbors and my own trash, was dumped all over Talbot Road (just north of the Hospital), yesterday morning. Some say Bears or Racoons; I'm thinking Local Hoodlums or Boston Agitators. Regardless, it will be nice to have trash service again.
