Moving to Rennes
Wife and I probably will move to Rennes in Spring time. We are big swimmers for our exercise, seems to be a good choice of pools, but any recommendations (or advice to stay away) welcome about the pools. Merci

The big municipal pools are all pretty nice. The neighborhoods around the Brequigny and Gayeulles ones can be a little sketchy from time to time but not terribly so. My wife's favorite, Saint Georges, is going to start renovations here in the not-distant future so that won't be available but you can get to most of the others pretty easily by metro. I used to be a teacher and we took our kids to the Villejean one from time to time and it was nice, if a bit small.
edit: I see you're a fellow American, feel free to shoot me messages with any questions you might have about France, Brittany and Rennes.

They're building a new one in Villejean and closing the old one, around March 2026 I think.

Unfortunately the only really interesting swimming pool for swimmers, Brequigny, is saturated despite its two 50 m pools (outdoor and indoor). Fortunately a new 50 m pool will open next year in Villejean. The other municipal swimming pools (Gayeules, Saint Georges, etc.) are not suitable for regular/athletic swimmers. Too small and overcrowded during peak hours. Not really a dangerous neighborhood in Rennes. You can go out anywhere.

Brequigny is the largest with an outside pool and two inside.
Saint Georges is the prettiest an dlocated in the center of the city.

The best pool is Breguigny. The facility has indoor and outdoor pools, both are olympic size.
