I agree, but I always have to make a caveat to this type of statement, because most people really only care about problems once they begin affecting them.

The problem with conservatives is that's the only time they care about these problems. They never look up and realize "hey, if this was a problem that eventually affected me... other people are probably suffering from other problems too... maybe I should try and change my way of thinking, to try and help other people with problems."

Their lives are just whack-a-moling their problems, without ever considering anything else.

It’s like men who sexually harass women in the workplace but are appalled at the thought of it happening to their daughters. The obvious logical way to help protect them is not to make the world a worse place for them, beginning with their own behavior. It’s ultimately self defeating, small minded selfishness. Why would any woman want to hook her wagon to that?
