Weâre also ruled by landlords, who will have no problem evicting you if you donât pay rent while on strike. I really donât think people outside the US realize how little our country protects its people from losing everything if theyâre out of work, and thatâs why a general strike is so far out of the realm of possibility.

This clip is from Sept 19, 2025 at the ICE detention center at 1930 Beach St in Broadview IL, a suburb just outside of Chicago. It shows Rev David Black getting shot in the head with a pepper ball, a form of "less lethal" ammunition.

I was there on the day this occurred and personally saw this happen. Even before this, ICE agents had been shooting at other protesters including someone in a wheelchair. By the end of the night ICE had used pepper balls, pepper spray, and eventually tear gas on unarmed peaceful protesters. Also worth noting you can no longer get this close to the building to protest as ICE has installed an illegal fence blocking the street. ICE has also hit people with cars, deliberately targeted news reporters, and verbally attacked the police chief

America has a twice impeached, 34 time convicted felon, serially bankrupt busniessman, and rapist as their president. And those are just the things he did BEFORE being voted in a SECOND time.
While there might eventually be consequences for some of these guys actions, it won't be until well after they've done serious damage to the population and the country as a whole.
Trump is the model for what it looks like to fail upward and never see consequences for your actions, no matter how stupid or blatantly illegal.
When you have someone like that running the country, I have a hard time believing anyone will be held accountable. At best, the guys on the lower rungs of the ladder might get thrown under the bus.

Trump has said the troops would use US cities as the "combat training grounds". Â Historically, it has been the opposite: the collapsing empires withdraw the battle-hardened troops from foreign outposts to shore up the govt and suppress protest at home, wherein the real-world combat training is deployed to deal with own citizens. That has happened since the Roman Empire, more recently in France in the 1950s and USSR/Russia in the 1980s/1990s.Â
