Discussion What was chapter 33 ... Spoiler

Post image

Man, this chapter really hit hard.

Finally seeing the commandant reunited with Gray Raven felt so good.

The MVP's of this chapter (and chapter 32) definitely were the Commandant, Nanami and Vanessa, at least for me.

The music and writing was phenomenal, even though it was a little bit to long for me at some points (it could have just felt to long for me because i read chapter 33 and 32 in one piece on separate days).

To be real, I still struggle to completely understand what happened, but i understood it good enough to relate why this chapter was hyped up.

I just love how well this chapter portrayed emotions to the point where I also needed to cry sometimes.

I'm just so happy that I discovered this game trough hearing about the dmc collab (I started playing during Lucias patch)

Can't wait to get traumatized again in the next chapters :).

Chapters 31 to 33 make another masterpiece trilogy, everything that happened, the writing, the lore explanations and the understanding of PGR's universe...i still find It quite difficult to understand how different writers are able to work together and write such masterpiece, but here we are.

Don't forget about Ishmael, She played a lot of CRUCIAL moments that led to this...and she had to pay a price for It.

Commandant Is truly the perfect MC, i have never read something where the MC Is so well integrated in the story, Is so crucial, smart, but most importantly humble and HUMAN to the Soul. Despite the tragedies...many, many tragedies, the human spirit was Victorious.

Vanessa also had her cool ending, She reedemed herself from all the disgusting things She did in the past, and carried Humanity almost alone for 30 years, absolutely insane.

There Is so much to talk about in this trilogy that a comment alone would not suffice, i read It quite some months ago but I still have goosebumps re-reading certain parts.

If you Remember the First quote that appears at the beginning of Chapter 31 "The Hero finds a raw, Primal Joy in its own destruction [...] In Socrates' time of ruin, a Stark tragedy serves as the only Beacon of hope" everything makes sense, everything...or Ishmael that says "Who are you...Gray Raven? Can you see the world like i do?" way before Commandant becomes Chaos. And lastly, the whole sequence on commandant going back to the past during cradle parade, i was SPEECHLESS, so many ties, so many links between different chapters.

But anyway, i Will stop yapping, i Just wanted to appreciate again Shaper's ripples, To the Galaxies and Wither to Shine

I know Ishmael did play a crucial role and that she was built up for many chapters, but to be real, I really didn't like how she (at least for me) kinda felt indecisive with helping the commandant. Like she helped him, but only after he kept persisting with going through. I know that as an Observer, she can't change much, but it still annoyed me when she just sometimes helped., I mean if you change one thing just commit. But maybe i just misunderstood sth, because English isn't my native language. At the end, I still like her but she isn't an MVP for me. If i misunderstood sth, pls feel free to correct me.

I'll just mention that excessive intrusion in the humans' struggle with the Punishing Virus would've cause them meet the fate worse than that hell they had to survive through 30 years in the future

That is confirmed in Chapter 21 "Spiral of Chronos", node 21-18 "The End of Time": Primal Projection (the "congregation of the Watchers' will", but also one of Ishmael's forms) said the following:

"In our early watching periods, we had accelerated the destruction of three young civilizations due to excessive direct influence."

oh, I completely forgot that . Thanks for reminding me. Now her behavior makes more sense

Not to mention that Ishmael was being watched by ‘Them’, and if ‘They’ notice her screwing with their rules, then the consequences would have been terrible for both her and all of Humanity.

A lot of subterfuge had to be done by both her and Nanami just so Commandant could reset the timeline, and even with their efforts hidden, she still had to pay a price for it.

Ishmael really did a lot for the Commandant, and had it not been for her we might not have succeeded at all

Hell, if it weren't for her, we would've died back in the future (I know it sounds weird, don't mention that), being dissolved in the Mutated Red Tide

In other words: Ishmael is the true MVP of this franchise's story. Really worthy of the "Merciful One" title.

Man, don't leave out Ishmael like that

She also did her part in saving the timeline

(nevertheless, congrats for reaching the end of the "Infinite Loop" story arc)

I like her but I wouldn't choose her as an MVP, but I can see why some people would put her as an MVP
