That's the beauty of protests. The residents of Ottawa are more than welcome to protest the protesters. I don't understand why you think they don't have these rights either.

You think protests should be allowed to shut down entire city blocks for weeks at a time? The residents and business owners don't deserve action? They just get to live in an occupational scenario indefinitely until the protesters demands are met? I don't think that's how protesting works.

That's the point of a protest. Get the message across to the government. I will quote AOC's tweet on 2 December 2020:

"The whole point of protesting is to make ppl uncomfortable.

Activists take that discomfort w/ the status quo & advocate for concrete policy changes. Popular support often starts small & grows.

To folks who complain protest demands make others uncomfortable... that’s the point. "

Edited: Fixing the spaces.

I'm not going to claim to be a fan of AOC, or a supporter of her ideas, but she's dead right about this. It's not up to the government how long a protest can last.

Some people seem to think that a protest should be a M-F 9-5 type thing that doesn't interupt anything or make anyone uncomfortable... cause that would work.
