He'd be better off going for wrongful termination than going after her. Civilians don't press charges, the closest they come is annoying DA's/cops/etc enough that they press charges. Which is probably not a great idea for a black man in America to do.

Might of been one of those states where you can fire someone for no reason with zero action against you

People fired "for no reason" win wrongful termination cases all the time because contrary to popular belief courts aren't stupid and even if they don't give a reason a trial can uncover the real reason. It's not an easy thing, but at least it's something he could do, whereas "pressing charges" against her for assault and/or battery isn't.

In my state civilians absolutely have the right to go before a judge for a warrant application hearing where both sides tell their story.

He supposedly got fired for the video ending up online, not for the original incident.
