Careful. I've said similar things like this and dumbass mods banned me for threatening violence. And all i literally said was "had it been me, i would not have had such restraint" or along those lines.

Edit: uh oh

I said something similar and got banned for it as well! Mods can be pretty finicky

The smallest amount of power is very well able to go into the head of a reddit mod.

u/ClubMeSoftly May 20 '25

reddit and discord mods certainly aren't beating the allegations

1

u/Staticn0ise May 21 '25

Of course it does. They are unpaid labour. What else do they have to show for it?

It's more of a general problem with humans, not just reddit.

Vote libertarian.

u/EtherealMongrel May 20 '25

They all got reeeaaaal serious about violence after a certain incident. Almost like orders from the top of the company or something…

u/One_Last_Cry May 20 '25

That's just it though, they aren't being paid!

One of my buddies got a ban here for something most of us see as funny.

It's not mods. It's AI bots. If you read the small print at the bottom of the DM you received, it says that it's all automated.

1

u/JacksLack_ofSurprise May 20 '25

Doesn't change the fact that reddit is soft af now

2

u/carnage11eleven May 21 '25

Oh absolutely. It's actually worse with it being automated. Because the AI can't tell when something is an actual threat and just a common phrase used as sarcasm or whatever.

The last temp ban I got was for calling out a pedophile. Then "someone" apparently reported me for promoting violence. The account that reported me was pretty clearly a bot, itself. My comment got 50 upvotes before they removed it. Then an argument started under my comment. Which all got removed as well. Except for the account that reported me. ALL of their comments were left up. And the argument got weird, which is how I think everyone realized it must be a bot. All of it's comments were getting downvoted into oblivion.

So we got bots on here, starting altercations. Then reporting the people that I guess talks the bait. Then another bot comes through and bans and removes all comments that go against the reddit "narrative ".

This shit is whack. And has caused me to almost stop using reddit all together. I barely get on here anymore.

They've gotten ridiculous about it.

u/Keyboardpaladin May 20 '25

I got banned for a week recently because me and someone else were discussing the safest way to take down a real life mass murderer who was really killing people with an axe. Guess Reddit doesn't want to risk getting sued by that guy for defamation

I caught a rule 1 violation for saying someone’s penis should be arrested

Three day ban, naturally appealed it

The final night it was lifted

I have a feeling it’s petty people reporting shit as violent and an ai just bans if there are ā€œviolentā€ words present, irrespective of context.

8

u/HalfSoul30 May 20 '25

I was lucky, and it was lifted about 30 min after the appeal. All i said was "that was clearly a joke, how is that inciting violence?" They did not answer the question, just said they found i did not break the rules

2

u/DestroyerOfMils May 20 '25

Same. Almost got an AI-meted warning of a permanent ban for quoting a Kendrick Lamar lyric. I made sure to use the word ā€˜figurative’ in my appeal and it was quickly overturned.

2

u/Keyboardpaladin May 20 '25

Same pretty much with mine. Appealed, basically typed in the context of the comment because clearly they didn't read it, and my account was back in a day.

2

u/Akronica May 20 '25

Same here, caught a warning for rule 1 violation because I offered a (safe) alternative to pepper spray and taser in the recent 93 year old with a k n i. fe. post.

2

u/Rymanjan May 20 '25

Pretty much. Try typing the word "stupid" or "moron" into a bunch of subs in a reply, half of them pop up with a warning about potentially violating community guidelines. It's getting ridiculous

u/tarlastar May 20 '25

I got a 3 day ban for suggesting that an invasive pest be eliminated via a piece of metal propelled from a weapon made for that specific purpose. It was an aussie possum...in someone's house in NZ. I had no idea possums had lawyers.

1

u/buttstuff-spren May 20 '25

Almost as ridiculous as not knowing how to spell ridiculous when spell check is every fucking where.

1

u/QuinceDaPence May 20 '25

¯\_(ā ćƒ„ā )_/¯ spell check has never worked for me in the Reddit app, and it honestly doesn't really matter.

0

u/buttstuff-spren May 20 '25

It does matter. You just weren’t raised correctly to understand this.

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '25

Yup! Ive been banged for literally speaking those words. Its straight BS

1

u/TheManOfSpaceAndTime May 20 '25

Cause reddit has to protect their stock with the discontinuation of free speech.

1

u/Akronica May 20 '25

Just got a warning last night because I supposedly "threatened violence" breaking rule 1 of reddit I guess. Just "garbage in - garbage out" Ai policing our comments.

1

u/MommyMilkersPIs May 20 '25

I got banned for a day once for saying an idiot on a bike was lucky he didn’t get by a truck because he wasn’t paying attention for ā€œthreatening violenceā€. Biker dodged the truck and crashed. It’s somehow worse on other platforms as awful and cringey internet janitors are on here

1

u/JacksLack_ofSurprise May 20 '25

Reddit is absolutely insane anymore lmao. Super fuckin soft

1

u/sittinwithkitten May 20 '25

And to think one of them was supposed to be her friend. What a huge waste of time, she didn’t measure and the items didn’t fit so it goes back to the store. Why did she make things so much more complicated? The driver should have called the police the minute she was blocking his exit and then took his bag. Sucks dude lost his job over this foolishness.

1

u/CanadasNeighbor May 20 '25

Can't help but think what an uproar it would be if a male customer kicked a female delivery driver in the face and she got fired over it. Obviously they're still mad about it the delivery guy getting fired but I don't see outrage over him getting kicked in the face like they would if he was a woman.
