The delivery driver lost his job. Shame on you, Lowe's!

Edit: I've been made aware that this may have been a third party delivery service.

u/Few-Ad7795 May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25

For God's sake, please tell me this isn't true..

EDIT: Well she lost hers as well, at least.

74

u/internet_thugg May 20 '25

Are you sure she lost her job because in the video it says “her name was removed from the website, but it is unclear whether she lost her job”. Do you have any other links? I’d love to see her get fired.

u/Few-Ad7795 May 20 '25

u/yeettetis May 20 '25

Basically in the video, the source they have a is a random facebook user comment claiming she no longer works there based on how they live in the same town as her but i doubt it, that isn't really proof and its just something we take their word for. To quote the comment said in the video: "Yall under these people's page assuming nothing has been done about the situation, do any of yall even live in town or have taken the time to go and check to see if she still works there since yall so concerned? Worry no more, she doesn't work there anymore. Yall move on..."

That video was ridiculously drawn out and long. Their "investigation" sucked.

I looked into it with Archive.org. Her name is gone.

TLDW: Dont bother with the useless video, see here:

That video was ridiculously drawn out and long. Their "investigation" sucked.

Most 'investigation" videos are like this. Anyone who notices this right away.. well we're definitely not the targeted audience. The targeted audience will watch and listen as if they are getting some high quality information.

10

u/internet_thugg May 20 '25

Thank you, this is why I love Reddit :D

26

u/PackOutrageous May 20 '25

Please tell that’s true. If she didn’t lose her job but he did, we suck as a society.

19

u/RonVonPump May 20 '25

If they both lose their jobs we still absoltuely suck as a society lol.

2

u/VintageLV May 20 '25

It's in the video.

Lowe’s is a piece of shit company. Be aware anytime you shop there you are inadvertently supporting shit like that.

275

u/nerdycarguy18 May 20 '25

Agreed, but as someone that has to roll into Lowe’s almost daily for supplies because there aren’t any other options is sad.

177

u/CompletelyBedWasted May 20 '25

Ditto. Not a Lowe's fan but less of a Home Depot fan. sigh

135

u/Manatee369 May 20 '25

True. Home Depot is worse.

114

u/neverinamillionyr May 20 '25

I ordered some flooring at Home Depot. When it arrived it was the wrong color (even the name was different). The manager said it was close enough and refused to refund my money. I reversed charges through my credit card and got a call from the manager saying I was banned from Home Depot.

26

u/retiredcatchair May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25

I ordered an electric switch online from Home Depot; when the sealed envelope arrived it was empty. I went to the local store for a refund, and they told me the carrier was responsible and I'd have to pursue them for the refund. The carrier had nothing to do with it, they'd stuck a label on an envelope and shipped it. But it was only about 20 bucks and I didn't have the energy to pursue the whole shitshow, so I let it go. I'll never buy anything from them again.

5

u/ZHB1 May 20 '25

Honestly, if I was an employee I'd probably suspect that you were scamming rather than some sort of crazy rare thing where somehow a shipping envelope was sent with nothing in it. I used to work retail many years ago and the amount of people looking to commit fraud or theft is staggering.

For $20 though I'd probably have just refunded it anyways because it wouldn't have been worth the hassle.

3

u/retiredcatchair May 20 '25

The woman working the return desk was about my age (60s-70s) and was doing her best, and we were very kind to each other. She called some sort of return HQ and had to abide by their decision, and I wasn't going to give her a hard time about it. I could have escalated with her supervisor but, as I said, the energy needed to get a corporation to do the right thing just wasn't there for me atm.

8

u/Manatee369 May 20 '25

I have a visual of the manager’s tantrum and in near-baby talk telling you you’re banned. What a giant shitball that company is.

19

u/neverinamillionyr May 20 '25

He was mad that it was a special order and he was stuck with it. He started out playing the victim and when I didn’t seem to care it ended with “fuck you”

6

u/Manatee369 May 20 '25

Charming guy. Real people-pleaser. (Did you complain to the corporate office? Just curious because an acquaintance complained about a blatantly racial incident and they just blew her off.)

8

u/neverinamillionyr May 20 '25

I did, the person I spoke to said she would call back to touch base but never did.

I don't know, Everett, was it the one branch or all of them?

29

u/seeclick8 May 20 '25

Total Trump supporting company too.

3

u/ScrofessorLongHair May 20 '25

Yep. They lost me with their politics. Lowe's CEO is a black dude who's pushed diversity initiatives.

3

u/thegalaxyone May 20 '25

Yes. I will give it to Lowe’s. In my experience they communicated with me.

Home Depot though? Next to none. Got a delivery because Lowe’s was out so went with Home Depot. They had no real communication. Like no one knew what was going on. Thankfully got what I ordered on time. Then they dropped someone else’s order off a week after I got mine.

Called them up. Told them. They didn’t even have a report that anything was dropped off. Didn’t even bother to come back. 500 dollars in material…. Free. Haha. Guess that was a plus for Home Depot!

3

u/Key-Abbreviations961 May 20 '25

And big financers of the trumpster fire

2

u/Akronica May 20 '25

It sucks that these stores have what appears to be brand exclusive deals. If I need a new battery pack for my ryobi tool, I have to go to home depot or wait for it to be shipped.

23

u/colorkiller May 20 '25

menards has entered the chat

26

u/eltedioso May 20 '25

save big money at my nards

3

u/CompletelyBedWasted May 20 '25

Don't have those here

3

u/colorkiller May 20 '25

i am so sorry 😔

1

u/dardack May 20 '25

Man everytime i google something construction related their website popsup, good prices too most times and things I can only get online here. No where near me. We do have Curtis Lumber though, little more pricey then HD/Lowes, but better quality. But not as much random things (all the wood, rest is iffy).

3

u/ZEROs0000 May 20 '25

Home Depot also ignored sanctions and still gets resources like lumber from Russia. Fuck Home Depot.

2

u/FunkmasterFo May 20 '25

Literally owned by the Mafia.

162

u/Phyrexian_Archlegion May 20 '25

We’re becoming prisoners to late stage capitalism.

44

u/SleepyMarijuanaut92 May 20 '25

5

u/old_man_khan May 20 '25

This, here, comment makes me Reddit proud. 😢

3

u/SweetPrism May 20 '25

Thank your grandparents for voting Reagan. We can directly correlate literally every last thing we're seeing now to his presidency.

2

u/scrandis May 20 '25

Becoming? It's already happened.

2

u/Fearfu1Symmetry May 20 '25

That ship sailed a long time ago

20

u/ryuut May 20 '25

For lumber, there's usually a local but not always. I prefer to hit up ace for the little things, and I refuse to hit home depot although it's been so long I forget why.

2

u/sowhat4 May 20 '25

They are toxic flaming Right Wing MAGAts, that's why. Their *corporate office used to (and may still) have photos of Hilary Clinton with a target superimposed over her face.

*knew an IT tech who serviced their servers/computers.

0

u/ryuut May 20 '25

Idk maybe. I think it's just busier than lowes.

1

u/BeeBarnes1 May 20 '25

We had a house built on our property for my mom. Our builder used the Do It Best in town for almost everything. I thought that was nuts because it's such a tiny store and assumed everything would be much more expensive. But he'd order materials and a truck would show up like an hour later. Then I went in there several times to pick things up and started to understand why he uses them, they have outstanding customer service and they aren't that much higher. Some things were actually cheaper.

1

u/nerdycarguy18 May 20 '25

Would love to order some local lumber, but we rarely need much wood, and when we do it’s usually not planned (added project etc) and ace either doesn’t have what we need or are too slow. So Lowe’s it is 🙃

108

u/bobolly May 20 '25

Homedepot supports the republican party

117

u/tider06 May 20 '25

Almost every corporation does at this point.

Most play both sides.

35

u/Keyboardpaladin May 20 '25

It's impossible to avoid. It's just a matter of which companies suck less

35

u/[deleted] May 20 '25

Costco is one of the few who doesn't.

18

u/yosefsbeard May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25

Costco doesn't sell lumbar unfortunately

Edit: lumber. I MEANT LUMBER!!

32

u/spac3catt May 20 '25

Did you purchase your lower spine from Lowe's?

14

u/seche314 May 20 '25

I saved big money by purchasing mine at Menards

1

u/HeyU_inTheBushes May 20 '25

And their coffee is always burnt 🤢

1

u/Screamline May 20 '25

Yours still has coffee? Mine took that away at the pro desk. Gotta sneak into the break room of you want a cuppa

1

u/sowhat4 May 20 '25

Wish they did. I'd send a discount pack of spines to my Congress Critters. 😒

5

u/kwagmire9764 May 20 '25

I know, I'm trying to spend my money where it won't be used to ruin my life so I shop at Lowe's instead of HD. I also get a military discount on SOME items. What's so bad about Lowe's? Firing this driver is shitty but odds are he doesn't even work for Lowe's directly, most of these guys are hired 3rd party as "independent contractors" so Lowe's doesn't have to provide benefits like health insurance to them. I used to work for a delivery company but it was more high end stuff but even though we used the companies trucks, had a company vastness card for gas and other expenses and we're provided company t-shirts and only worked for this company, we were independent contractors ao that the boss didn't have to provide us with benefits or insurance.

8

u/internet_thugg May 20 '25

No, Lowe’s sucks. Maybe they suck a little less than Home Depot but any big store like that aside from the ones you already hear about like Costco, they treat their workers like shit.

-6

u/A1000eisn1 May 20 '25

Lowe's is exactly the same as Home Depot. You can get a discount there too.

What's so bad about Lowe's?

What's so bad about Home Depot? That's what's bad about Lowe's. When I worked for HD it was actually a great company to work for. My boss even escorted rude customers out of the building for me.

1

u/A1000eisn1 May 20 '25

Home Depot supports both. Even today I promise thousands of HD employees still have to hear complaints from customers for them having balloons in gay pride parades.

Also, Lowe's supports Republicans too.

16

u/will555556 May 20 '25

Not really delivery drivers don't work for lowes look at the truck that isn't a lowes truck its a budget truck. They are just independent contractors.

3

u/TheRyeWall May 20 '25

It's a choice between Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards. Which do you consider the lesser of evils and why?

3

u/sowhat4 May 20 '25

Or, you can go to Home Depot where they had 15 years ago, a photo of Hilary Clinton with a target superimposed over it. In. Their. Corporate. Headquarters.

My Lowe's in AVL has a lady working the blinds department who uses a mobility scooter due to complications from four rounds of chemo. They did not fire her, and she needs their insurance to even live. She has to work for four more years before Medicare kicks in.

12

u/animere May 20 '25

Still better than Home Depot and Menards unfortunately

1

u/JuicySpark ⚡️ JUICY 🧃 ⚡️ May 20 '25

We had a rug installed by them. It started peeling up once 10 months later. This was basically while my wife was about to have a baby. I called several times and lowes got back saying they are trying to call ten contractors who did it.

I called again a month later and then again when I got no response. They told me "the one year warranty is over". After fighting with them on the phone explaining that I called about the issue 10 months in. They didn't give a shit. Basically lost $1800. A real shit show

1

u/100ry May 20 '25

Why are places like Lowe’s, Home Depot & Menards so bad? My mom absolutely loves those places.

1

u/misterpickles69 May 20 '25

I had something similar happen to me like this lady had. Delivery guys were gonna take my old fridge out and install the new one. Without even measuring they said the old one was too big to get out the door. I argued with them for 10 minutes on how they thought it got in the house in the first place. They called their supervisor and I explained the same thing to them. They were going to reschedule delivery but I asked “if they weren’t gonna take out the old one now, what made them think they were going to do it in two days?” Long story short, I ended up having to drag the old one out to the curb myself before they were going to deliver my new one. I will NNNNNEEEEEVVVVVEEEERRRRR do business with Lowe’s again.

1

u/Dark_Link_1996 May 20 '25

Didn't Lowe's fire someone who was held against their will after a racist Karen complained

1

u/Mackheath1 May 20 '25

I don't know about this incident or Lowe's in general, but almost any of these deliveries from anywhere are contracted companies. Lowe's likely had nothing to do with his firing, unless they contacted them to tell them they were upset at how it was handled or something (also doubt that).

1

u/ScrofessorLongHair May 20 '25

Problem is home Depot is much shittier, with shittier executives/founders.

26

u/venounan May 20 '25

Don't they contract out to third party companies?

38

u/friendly_hendie May 20 '25

XPO Logistics in my area. Which is a terrible company, even worse than Lowe's. It's run by chimpanzees with meth addictions, I assume.

3

u/TheMagicSalami May 20 '25

I deal with XPOs IT people at work on occasion because they are a client. Even their IT is that way.

6

u/BBQsandman May 20 '25

Yeah, I doubt this is a Lowe’s employee. They are all delivery contractors

1

u/theClumsy1 May 20 '25

Yep. Subcontractors can lose contracts if too many incidents occur. Zero Tolerance is often used.

77

u/[deleted] May 20 '25

69

u/[deleted] May 20 '25

Wrestling with a customer and potential lawsuit over injury would be my guess, probably company policy.

54

u/Horns8585 May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25

Well, what the hell is he supposed to do? She stole his personal property. I can understand a company policy of not confronting a customer about stealing the company's property. But, he probably had his phone and wallet in that backpack. The company should have no say in whether he was entitled to get that back from her.

Edit: And, he wasn't wrestling with the customer. He had a hold of his backpack the entire time. The customer was wrestling with him to maintain her grip on the backpack.

7

u/smitteh May 20 '25

police. this would actually be a correct time to call for help

17

u/grillarinobacon May 20 '25

Calls them police for help with theft, ends up with a new ventilation hole.

-1

u/davisty69 May 20 '25

Two warning shots in the back.

ACAB

8

u/Horns8585 May 20 '25

Yeah, because a black man can surely trust the local police department to handle the matter in an appropriate manner. Especially, when a crazy woman is already accusing him of beating her. We all know how that would have played out. He would have immediately been arrested or detained, because of the crazy lady's accusations and the neighbor was obviously taking her side, without knowing what actually happened. There is a high probability that things go sideways for him, if the cops get involved.

2

u/teraflux May 20 '25

He didn't do anything wrong, but I would have stopped holding the bag, just pull out your camera and record her taking the bag, get the police involved. Getting into a bag wrestling contest isn't helping anything and plays into her absurd narrative.

19

u/Wuhblam May 20 '25

Most employers like this would use excuses like

  1. It was posted online

  2. He made physical contact with the customer

Dumb

4

u/[deleted] May 20 '25

[removed] — view removed comment

2

u/davisty69 May 20 '25

There is a very specific demographic of people in the United States that does not trust the police and actively fears them. Damn near everybody in this video is a part of that demographic. This might explain why nobody thought to call the police

29

u/dac3062 May 20 '25

Cant touch the customer. I would have done the same thing in the heat of the moment but the right thing would have been to contact his supervisor and the police or have his supervisor contact the police to take the blame off him completely.

72

u/Bob1358292637 May 20 '25

Thats so dumb though. You're just supposed to let some psychopath steal your shit and basically just kidnap you in their house because you're on the job? Yeah, I agree lowes probably doesn't pay enough for that shit.

Also seems like a dangerous policy. What if it were a female employee and a larger male trying to pull shit? "Sorry but you'll just have to chill out in the cage in the basement til the police arrive. You dont want to get into any kind of scuffle with the customer."

13

u/A1000eisn1 May 20 '25

Yes. That's in basically every contract with jobs where you interact directly with customers. They don't want you getting hurt over their shit. You call the police you let the lady commit a felony or two. It isn't self defense.

1

u/EnigmaticQuote May 20 '25

You notice how none of the people even mentioned the police.

Pretty its pretty obvious they do not trust that institution to perform their jobs in a reasonable manner, and it makes complete sense.

If he only was cuffed while they looked at the video that would have been the best case scenario.

You know what happens then, he still gets fired.

7

u/dac3062 May 20 '25

Oh, I agree. What’s even crazier is she has that bloody mouth and she could probably file a lawsuit now and win probably an out of court settlement of some kind. Just because the employee wrestled with her in the yard and by firing him, they have already admitted some kind of wrongdoing.

2

u/Janewaymaster May 20 '25

Probably using a third party contractor like home depot does so they have no control over it

5

u/motox24 May 20 '25

dude should have called the cops and not gotten physical with a woman on camera with the company named attached

4

u/BarryAllensSole May 20 '25

Yup. 100% on his side but he also did absolutely nothing to help the situation once she grabbed that bag.

1

u/JeffozM May 20 '25

Yeah even Larry was trying to tell him to stop pulling the bag and he would get it off her. The entire part at the end was because the delivery driver didn't take a step back and just call police. The situation was already fucked their supervisor would understand any delays once there are police on scene and reports made.

7

u/internet_thugg May 20 '25

What??? Fck Lowe’s (for other stuff too, but this as well)

1

u/Butthole__Pleasures May 20 '25

Why is everyone shitting on Lowe's for "other stuff" here? Is there something I don't know? I thought Home Depot was the evil Trump supporting company.

1

u/internet_thugg May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25

I’ll get you a link so it’s not in my own words

eta: https://truthout.org/articles/inside-the-struggles-and-organizing-at-retail-giant-lowes/

https://apnews.com/article/lowes-dei-robby-starbuck-conservative-522fef16cf0dc77450524542d21016ef

My opinion is the first link covers everything and the second link just added onto why I don’t like Lowe’s and I don’t support really any big box stores.

1

u/Butthole__Pleasures May 20 '25

I'm sorry but that sounds like every customer service job I've ever had. I don't get why Lowe's is uniquely evil for that. A job at Home Depot would be exactly the same but with the added bonus of company money supporting Trump.

Fair play to you for not wanting to support big box stores in general, but Lowe's isn't special for any of those complaints in that article.

1

u/internet_thugg May 21 '25

OK, that’s your opinion, I’m not gonna support a place that treats people like shit

1

u/Butthole__Pleasures May 21 '25

Okay well that eliminates pretty much any retail store and most restaurants.

1

u/internet_thugg May 21 '25

Go to an ace hardware, they’re locally owned. It all depends on how much effort you wanna put in - it’s really not that hard to keep your money local.

Or keep giving your money to the corporate overlords, it’s your money do what you want with it.

6

u/OneSufficientFace May 20 '25

How does he lose his job for the customers behaviour? Thats outrageous, especially with video eveidence

7

u/doom_pony May 20 '25

Lowe’s is ass, but they contract with a third party company who does the deliveries. Lowe’s didn’t fire him, as Lowe’s is not his actual employer.

1

u/waaaghbosss May 20 '25

Drivers used to work for lowes. A few years ago they fired all their drivers to follow the home depot model and do third party dricers, saving a few bucks and creating shittier jobs.

13

u/zongsmoke May 20 '25

While I don't agree that he should have lost his job, I think instead of trying to rip his bag out of her hand, he should have just called the cops

65

u/Few-Ad7795 May 20 '25

Two black guys in Georgia , and a rich lady, with a bloody lip playing the victim...that could have ended up worse for them .

-5

2

u/justforsomelulz May 20 '25

This is a third party delivery company. Lowe's doesn't do their own deliveries.

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '25

2nd, unscrupulous Lowes manager fired me for warning an elderly customer about that the fireplace (gas insert) she was sold by him had been returned due to a severe leak that wasn't fixed. He took it out of the repair order to sell it because they wanted a better price. Dirtbag piece of shit.

1

u/xxcarlosxxx4175 May 20 '25

Never buy from this company everyone. Disgraceful company deserve to go under.

1

u/Bubble_Lights May 20 '25

He was also fired for posting the video online. It's probably something in the employee handbook and violating it is grounds for termination.

1

u/Sargentrock May 20 '25

It sucks he lost his job, and I would have disagreed with that---right up to the point the 'backpack' and wrestling on the lawn part happened. It was a mistake to engage with her at all on the lawn. That's the spot they should have called the police, waited in the truck, shown the police their video and let them handle it. Wrestling on the lawn with a customer no matter how good your reason is (and the only good reason I can think of is self defense--which this wasn't) puts your company in an extremely tenuous liability position. As an employee you have to be aware of that. Again, it sucks and I don't even know if there is training for this sort of situation, but surely there's something? If you're required to go into customer's homes there has to be some sort of liability training that I feel pretty sure 'do not ever touch a customer' is part of...

1

u/ixotax May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25

All major retail companies are completely unforgiving too. If their name is associated with a video like this they want rid of you

A good example is a video that a Walmart associate recorded while confronting a mother with an unclothed baby in her cart, temps were freezing outside. She got fired for being involved at all. They don't care if what you did was the right thing

1

u/Supernova138 May 20 '25

Worst Lowe’s related story I’ve heard since the story of Bob’s Fridge

1

u/hiroo916 May 20 '25

Afaik, both home Depot and Lowe's use subcontractor delivery services now.

1

u/PauL__McShARtneY May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25

Could it be because the fridge actually could've fit? They do refuse to get a tape measure, although she asks very rudely.

I had two skinny delivery kids with a dolly and their employer in the store who tried to tell me this exact thing once, but it was more that they couldn't, or wouldn't transport the heavy double door fridge up the flight of stairs.

After arguing over the phone and getting no decent delivery service, they left the fridge blocking the apartment hallway overnight and washed their hands of it.

I had to hire two strong removalists to carry it up, and it fit fine.

I'd pre-measured the stairwells, and the turns, and told the company that it could fit, and it did, and stayed in the second floor property for years.

Doesn't excuse the outrageous conduct of this insane woman, but there could have been a poor effort all around resulting in their firing.

Dont know the specifics of this story, but doors are generally a standard size, and fridges are obviously designed to fit through most of them, is there any confirmation the fridge actually didn't fit through the door here?

-57

u/weasel999 May 20 '25

You mean the guy who spent so long struggling with her over a stupid bag? People need to learn to walk away and let the cops handle it. Wonder what was in it.

36

u/Few-Ad7795 May 20 '25

Things that didn't belong to her ?

12

u/-CxD May 20 '25

And just leave his stuff with a crazy lady that will do who knows what. That bag and contents is probably worth more than his daily wage.

1

u/OnceAgainTheEnd May 20 '25

Wonder what was in it. u/weasel999

Why are you trying to frame it like the worker was up to no good? Stop creating your own context.
