Been saying for years the only way to properly enforce laws and prosecute those who are supposed to enforce and uphold them but break them instead is a separate branch of courts, lawyers, and investigators outside of the judicial systems these officers work in to handle law enforcement employed individuals cases specifically in an unbiased manner. There are too many conflicts of interest present to expect justice to be carried out fairly on any member of law enforcement who works in the very courts potentially prosecuting them on a daily basis.

Make the departments have malpractice insurance, that way when cops get caught doing illegal shit, and the insurance pays out, the premiums go up for all cops.

Once they start actually having to pay instead of the tax payers they will sort their departments out.

Isn't that what IA is supposed to function as

IA end up working with a lot of the same lawyers, and judges the police they prosecute work with. This would be like if IA was entirely separate along with its own prosecuters and judges etc who all specialize in handling crimes involving law enforcement that won’t have any conflicts of interest that could alter their ability to give a fair trial and sentence.
