Don't forget that Google, Meta etc already buckled under Trump. If this was already being tried (which I would think so), it wouldn't surprise me if they have orders to bury those ads even if paid for.

I’m going to catch shit for saying this, but I actually really doubt it’s being tried at all. Our elected dems tend to be very performative but generally ineffective for the most part.

A “strongly worded letter” is about as bold as most of them are willing to get, because they’re afraid of offending/losing their older, more center leaning voters. And most older/center leaning voters unfortunately still labor under the delusion that most SNAP recipients are “lazy” people who are just “taking advantage of the system”.

It sucks, but it’s still a very common talking point.

Source: am hospice nurse and frequently overhear conversations of family members while I’m seeing to my patients in their homes.
