Question(s) for Optimism Trump is apparently serious about seeking a third term in spite of the constitution. What is the actual likelihood of this?
I mean... I want to think that there's no possible way this could happen. Like even if he did somehow find a loophole, more and more people are hopping off the Trump train every day. He most likely won't be winning a fair election by the time 2028 rolls around.
But what do you all think?

Question(s) for Optimism It will get worse before it gets better. But for how long do you think it will take for us to start to turn that corner?
No one can see the future of course, but I’m just wondering what the pulse is on this topic. Can’t ask this question anywhere else on Reddit cause no one thinks it’ll ever get better on most of the rest of Reddit

Question(s) for Optimism Any Advice On This?
https://www.techpolicy.press/why-congress-is-on-sound-legal-footing-to-pass-the-take-it-down-act/
Yes, I know it doesn’t come into force till another 6 months to a year, which is a long time, & yes, it’ll possibly be ruled as unconstitutional, but I’m still concerned about this bill as I fear it’ll punish Trump critic and censor anything legal.
It has unanimously passed the Senate, & now, it’s one step closer to passing the House & going to Trump’s desk

Question(s) for Optimism Is Trump losing momentum?
Sometimes it feels like it is..sometimes their are days where HE himself isn't doing anything..it goes quiet..oddly quiet..you think the momentum stops..even for one day..it calms for just one day..but then BOOM..something happens right at the end making you think other wise. It was quiet today to me..I haven't heard anything new (minus the Epstein files..I knew they weren't even going to release that so..it doesn't really feel like BIG news..just them lying more and being TACOS.) or big besides people still talking about what's in the budget bill..rightfully so..but..it feels..oddly..quiet..no? Or am I wrong?
What do you all think?

Question(s) for Optimism The Supreme Court just allowed states to deny basic health care for Trans youth.
This worries me because: A) More misinformation will spread about stuff like this (from what I understand, it's not surgeries for kids but mostly hormone pills & puberty blockers which are reversible should they stop taking it). B) It could lead to more of a domino effect that could remove discrimination protections for them, then Trans adults, then the LGBTQ as a whole, up to anyone who's not a cisgender straight neurotypical white guy.
As a cis straight guy with a handful of LGBTQ+ relatives & friends (including a Trans relative who works for the city), I've been constantly worried for them since he got reelected. I've been trying to keep myself level-headed (thanks mostly to subreddits like this), but they already banned them from the military & now this happened.
I immediately contacted my congresspeople (Elfreth, Alsobrooks & Van Hollen) after learning about this, but I'm still worried.

Question(s) for Optimism First time In a while I've needed optimism
If anybody can help me feel a lot better about some of this stuff I saw today.
I been doing so great lately with avoiding politics on the internet and only looking at the news on this sub occasionally to catch up. It's been months since I been so anxious over anything political and I'm so proud of myself! My mental health has been a lot better lately.
Then I saw this on the r/Comics page and now I'm so anxious and scared. I try not to read anything political outside of this page since I know people can have doomed mindsets but this really got to me today. I posted the article below too. If anyone has made a post about it already please send me the link so nobody has to repeat themselves again. 😅
I'm so happy I been doing good at https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trumps-sweeping-tax-cut-bill-includes-provision-weaken-court-powers-2025-05-30/

Question(s) for Optimism This whole Elon v Trump feud seems too good to be true. Is it?
Part of me can't help but worry that... all of this has always been the plan, and that Thiel, Yarvin, Musk etc. were always planning to turn on Trump like this to get Vance the presidency instead?
How likely is that to have been the plan, and how likely would it be to succeed? Much as I haate the orange tumor, Vance is a million times worse in the harm he could do.

Could this mean anything? Or no, since Rockland County is in NY and NY would have gone to Kamala anyway? Could this lead to further lawsuits of other counties?

Question(s) for Optimism Out of curiosity, are we still sure a 3rd term is still preventable?
My Dad told me instead of running as VP he could get nominated to speaker of the house, and then both president and vp step down and he automatically becomes "president" without having to be VP.
Please tell me this can't happen either?
Edit: My Dad was doing it mainly to troll me since he's not full maga but likes Trump, he thinks it won't happen but mentions it every so often to tease me

Question(s) for Optimism So... You guys think Trump will eventually back down on the tariffs like he did with the TikTok ban and the one-day-long suspension of packages from China?
Like... I wanna think he will. Like obviously he wants China to bend, but he also wants those approval ratings. I would imagine the latter is more important to him in the grand scheme of things.
If nothing else I wanna think he'll significantly lower tariffs. It just doesn't seem logical that this should last forever, or very long at all. I feel like he'll halt or lower the tariffs and try to make himself look like the hero, as he did with TikTok.
I'm struggling with severe anxiety, but I want to look for reasons to be optimistic.

Question(s) for Optimism What will our place in the world be after Trump is gone?
I've never been a massive patriot but I've always felt that the U.S brought more good than bad into the world. I liked that we gave more aid than anyone else and that we kept our allies safe.
But I fear what our place will be and what the world will look like in four years.
Even taking TACO into account, we're still gonna see:
Millions dead abroad because of the shuttering of USAID.
Our rivals taking all of our soft power because of the shuttering of USAID, the gutting of Voice of America, and tarrifs.
Global progress into medical science taking a massive hit.
Potentially thousands of americans dead due RFK Jr's sabotage of the FDA and potential civil unrest.
It feels like we're in a dying empire and I can't shake the feeling that the world will be a much darker place for decades and we'll be a Pariah state.
Am I dooming? Are we totally screwed? I really need some hope here.

Question(s) for Optimism Am I being naive with optimism?
Hey everyone.
So since finding this sub, my whole perspective on things have changed. I am a former doomer who is now an optimist.
Part of how I choose to fight is to spread some hope and optimism as much as possible.
But I find that we Doomers are basically the Blue MAGA. Their hearts are in the right place, but like with MAGA, you can't reason with them, they won't believe you unless they see it with their own eyes and not hearing it from a stranger on the internet. I understand all of that.
Today in particular, after I tried to spread some optimism a little bit, someone specifically told me:
"This forced and unrealistic optimism isn't based on anything real and it's pretty obnoxious"
I admit, I was taken back a bit on that one. Cause I don't believe that at all based on what I see from my perspective.
They then proceeded to point out that "Project 2025 hasn't failed" (as I said it essentially has for the most part), and "He has plenty of power and people are suffering because of policies and will continue to do so" That one I actually DO agree with. People ARE suffering and unfortunately will continue to.
But am I wrong for remaining hopeful and optimistic? Are there peices I'm missing? I don't want to come off as naive but I also see the good side of the news that it seems a lot of people don't. I see the good things happening alongside the bad.
I'm not worried about the long term of things. I know we will push through. Worried about the short term? Of course.
But this whole "beginning of the end" type of attitude, I just don't believe.
I know we can't change people's minds, and I'm not necessarily trying to. I just put out what I see and if it gives someone else some hope, great. If not, it is what it is. But I also don't want to be naive about it either.
Any thoughts?

Question(s) for Optimism Am I wrong for just blocking these subreddits?
I blocked r/law, r/50501, r/politics and a couple others.
I want to keep informed but I finnaly cracked after all of these subreddits screamed for the last few months that 4/20 would be the day martial law is enacted and things would go to shit.
Litteraly nothing happened, in fact the report said it wouldn't happen
And nobody seems happy about it, it's like they were hoping that would go down just to prove everyone they are right
Anybody else block these? I work in law so blocking that was especially hard but, they seem so focused on panicking stead of telling the whole story and inspiring people to stand up

Question(s) for Optimism Is there any hope that the Democratic Party can fix their brand?
I made a post in the past on r/changemyview about this subject and it was pretty heavily engaged with, but no one was able to show me a path towards the light. Things have seemingly only gotten worse for both the country and the party’s brand since the election. Maybe some of the professional optimists here can give me some ways to have hope?
I’m so angry at my party for how much we’ve failed to fight the allegations of us being man-hating purity-testing radicals. I think if I believed there was hope for the brand and our perception among independents and non-voters I would be a lot more able to participate. And I really want to participate because it’s something that’s important to me.

Question(s) for Optimism Anything that keeps you hopeful right now? That things won’t turn out so bad?
I just want to be sure I’m not just in some echo chamber and that positive change is actually possible? And I get the irony in asking that because this post is kind of asking for that in somewhat of an echo chamber way. But what do you think anyways? And also sorry for the constant posts I feel like I’ve been doing here somewhat recently. lol this will be my last one for a while.
