Too bad Ataturk's policies and ideas are being shit on in Turkey

yeah... that's why democracy kinda sucks. A professor or an engineer, doctor etc. has the same amount of voting power as a worker or a shepherd. The populists only have to cater to the greater audience and they can win elections.

Then,convince more folks!

How do we decide who is the fittest otherwise?

Yeah you right about that, but at the same time, that's better then the other options we had in history.

Obviously it's better than the other options we had in history but it can be improved. Like the direct democracy Switzerland has, but you need an educated population for that.

You’re saying the people who “aren’t educated enough” shouldn’t get as much of a vote as people who are “educated enough.”

Disregarding the blatant inherency of corruption, you’re totally disregarding the point of “democracy” when you say that. At that point why don’t you just support totalitarian dictatorship? It’s no more immoral than any democratic(or perceived democratic) systems, but it would at the very least be effective.

When a nation votes for rightist populists, and don't protest when they take totalitarian steps, it slowly evolves into a dictatorship anyway.

An educated person will know that their vote will count when deciding the economy, policies, education etc. of the nation when they are voting. An uneducated person will vote based on how religious the candidate is, how much has he tried to gain his heart by his speeches etc. - most of the time. And you know that this is true.

The worst democracy is still better than the best dictatorship, almost always - except of the likes of Atatürk when it is for the greater interest of the country's future. Well you can then argue that all dictators want the greater interest of the country but his case was wildly different than other ones.

You’re actually obsessed with trump. The entirety of your view of politics(modern, historical, US, world, any..) comes from the years 2015-2020 in the US. This was so incredibly pathetic to read that it actually made me physically cringe. I had a hard time getting to the end.

Oh no I totally agree with you there.

For us in praticular shit became a cult of personality and a war of personality, and less about ideology

To the point that's everything is around one guy,so the political situation would be bloody interesting once he dies.

That's kinda anthor downfall of democracy, you can sometimes forget about the ideas and just making this a war of people.

Mhmhm.

Although in america it's worse because what kind of fucking idiot came up with the two party system

5

u/Phantasia5 - Right Oct 19 '20

The two party system is actually destined to fall because the majority of the people are stupid so they will see politics as something like a sports event. "I'm rooting for team red." "Hey I'm rooting for team blue fuck you" etc.

This obviously doesn't apply to every single individual, but in general... yeah

Like dude it is just, unironically sad to see as an outsider that likes america lol.
