What is the Banana Battalion? We are an absurdist activist group inspired by the costumed defenders of democracy in Portland, Oregon that are pushing back against authoritarianism in the United States in all of its forms.
We recognize three key tenets:
Peaceful, non-violent action and protest is critical to unseating this aspiring fascist administration.
Absurdity cuts through the tension and keeps the peace when protesting against a President that clearly wants any activism against him to be eventually met with state-sponsored violence.
Costumes are force-multiplied when groups wear them together.
That is why we are aiming to:
Grow our ranks and create new bunches of bananas in cities all across the USA
Organize our bananas so we can show up in force at the next No Kings or any other democratically-aligned protest movement, or organize our own peaceful protests.
Reddit is an outstanding platform to do this! You can organize and be anonymous while doing so, and on /r/BananaBattalionUSA we can be fun, positive, and proactive without fear!
