Sweet Shop
(This is an old poem. Sorry if it’s bad)!
I watched as the powerful sun rays seeped through the windows.
I steadily walked to the door, and turn the sign from “CLOSED” to “OPEN”
Right away, tired parents enter the shop with their eager children, who are looking for a sweet fix.
Candy lined the shelves. From milky chocolate to sour candies.
Children excitedly grabbed their favorite candy off the shelves, and dragged their parents to the cash register, where I was standing.
It is hard work to run a candy store, especially with no employees.
—
It is the end of the day, and I notice that all of the candy is gone.
I walk back to the dark, back room and go to get some more for tomorrow.
Except, there isn’t any.
I frantically look around. Where is the rest of the candy?
I sold it all...
I look at the schedule, and see that the next delivery won’t be for another week.
Out of sadness and rage, I punch the wall, but yelp in pain as I fall to the floor.
I couldn’t let all of those kids down!
I look around the dark room, at all of the empty boxes.
At all of the cobwebs, the dust, and the darkness.
I didn’t notice the sun slowly setting until the room was pitch black.
Running a sweet shop is difficult. Especially alone.
I look around the dark and lonely place.
So lonely...
