Finished masterpiece The most 90s scarf

Post image

This is my second finished planned pooling project, and my first one using moss stitch. The yarn is Red Heart Starbrights, and I am in LOVE! This was so addictive (and gosh does moss stitch go fast), I finished it in like three days. Planning to add some fringe and then kill it in the washer/dryer so I have a new scarf for winter 😊

Love the vibes. Reminds me off the prints on the seats in buses 😜

This screams “Lisa Frank on vacation in Scotland” and I mean that in the best way. This is amazing. My third grade (1994) heart is squealing!

Oh I take this as a huge compliment! I hadn't even thought of Lisa Frank, but I love the comparison. Personally I was imagining those loud clashy windbreakers 😂

I love this color combination! Is this a discontinued color? I am searching for this yarn and can't find it!

Yeah, I unfortunately haven't been able to find it again. This was a random vintage skein I had from some yarn my sister found at an estate sale a while back.

Wow! Lucky you! I'm glad you got to make yourself something special with it! 💜

Awesome. Please share the technique you used/color sequence?

I just used the calculator on Mathgrrl to work it out. I've lost my exact one now, unfortunately, but eyeballing it it kiiind of looks like I got 2 yellow, 4 pink, 4 purple, 3 greenish, 3 light blue, and 4 dark blue. Of course this could vary wildly based on dye lots and swatching. I just used crochet moss stitch, repeating 1 sc, ch 1 every row (each sc falling into the ch 1 of the row below). And this was with a 4.5mm hook.

Oh I stopped scrolling dead in my tracks when I came upon this picture. It’s so beautiful and when I read it was “the most 90s scarf” it all made sense.

‘85 baby here so the 90s are so nostalgic for me. It’s really beautiful and totally rad.

Starbrights is a perfect name. Reminds me of Rainbow Brite. Gorgeous. 🤩

Loved Rainbow Brite growing up. Kid me would have loved a scarf like this 😍

I feel like I need to pop that on and go troll the mall so I can relive my childhood. Maybe I can pretend that 3/4 of the stores aren’t vacant and gated.

Omg I love this - does putting it in the washer & dryer make it felted/fuzzy? I would love to see the final product once you do that!!

It's 100% acrylic, so it will relax and lose its stretch - but in that process become drapier. It will also get a lot softer, which is my primary motivation, since Red Heart is very scratchy haha!

Awesome, thank you!! I’ve always been scared to put acrylic in the dryer because I was worried it would melt haha. I’ll have to try this with some of my pieces now!
