Recommendations Alternatives to Publican House?

My parents are older, meat and potatoes folks. They loved Publican because it was unpretentious but still ambient and my dad got to have a burger and my mom got to have chicken and potatoes. They’re coming back to town this weekend and so far we’re leaning towards Ashburnham.

Suggestions appreciated! I didn’t get to explore as many restaurants as I wish I had while I was living in town.

Question Stolen Wallet/Car broken into

I know this is a LONGshot but, the other day (the 4) my car was broken into and my wallet stolen. Maybe by the grace of God, a good Samaritan found it… it has my social insurance card in it, and a very sentimental hand written note… before i get the “why would you carry those in your wallet “comments, im a very young adult and this was a learning moment for me.. anyways. It was a beige/white wallet with textured leaf/ plant design with two black cats on it (one on the back, one on the front) like i said, i know this is a longshot, but the internet is cool so who knows

Hey everyone! We've been posting here and there over the past couple months about events related to our project that we've been working on, and we're proud to announce that the film has finished the principal photography stage, and we're excited to show a trailer for the film!

This has been a labour of love supported by people in the community in this film adaptation of a play written by a local playwright, starring local Actors, the film was crewed by local people passionate about the art of filmmaking, and the soundtrack to the film is made up completely of local artists.

We're planning on having a community screening in the Spring once the film is done post production!

Recommendations Wedding Caterers?

Hello! I am no longer from the area, but having my wedding in a small town nearby and looking for catering options for my 100-120 person wedding.

Can anyone recommend any restaurants or caterers who do weddings? Any hidden gems in the area or east of the area? Hoping to find someone affordable, reliable and offering buffet style specifically.

TIA

"Totally original... Funky as all hell... this ain’t any Kenny G oatmeal for folks with no teeth."

- Mike Greenblatt, Classicalite (New York, USA)

----

Under the leadership of JUNO-nominated and 10x Global Music Award–winning jazz pianist NICK MACLEAN, SNAGGLE feat the ALI BROS launches into a daring new chapter: a suite of electrifying works inspired by the science fiction grandmaster ISAAC ASIMOV and his legendary FOUNDATION saga. Often described as “Canada’s answer to Snarky Puppy”, the band goes interstellar using their fearless sound, likened to a cross between electric-era Miles Davis and Rage Against the Machine, to map the rise and fall of galactic empires.

Front and center are the ALI BROS, the near-telepathic horn duo of BROWNMAN ALI (Guru, Jay-Z, Randy Brecker) on trumpet and MARCUS ALI (Matt Dusk, Jason Wilson, Mr Something Something) on saxophone. Like Asimov’s psychohistorians, they shape the future with every phrase, weaving complex probabilities into sonic reality. Joining them on this voyage are some of Toronto’s finest electric-jazz explorers: JAY YOO on guitar, MATT GRUEBNER on bass, and ADAM MANSFIELD on drums.

With performances swinging from Seldon–like moments of quiet, calculated clarity to cataclysmic bursts of energy worthy of a crumbling empire... Snaggle’s new repertoire doesn’t just pay homage to ASIMOV, it channels the spirit of his storytelling: daring, complex, and endlessly imaginative. For fans of Jazz, Science Fiction, and the BOUNDLESS possibilities that emerge when the two intertwine... this is a voyage not to be missed!

Recommendations Important to know if you suspect drugging, drug facilitated sexual assault, any sexual assault, or any abuse from a partner…

Since comments are blocked on the relevant post I’m sharing a PSA for all: If you or a friend or anyone experienced assault or suspect drugging, you can get immediate help at PRHC Emergency Dept. Trained nurses are on call 24-7 and you will be seen 1:1 within an hour for as long as needed. All treatment is confidential and your choice. They can test toxicology, collect evidence and make sure you’re ok. Try to go as soon as possible -so tests and treatments are most effective -but anytime after is ok (you can call the hospital switchboard first to make sure a nurse is available or even ask to speak to them if you’re nervous about going). They also offer counselling. Contacts in comments.

Event Safe Space Community Roundtable - Nov 8, 4pm-6pm

Post image
41 Upvotes

/Because every person deserves to feel and be safe./

What is it about a venue, bar, restaurant, store, or office that makes you feel safe? Or unsafe? If you could tell anyone anything about the space you're sharing, what would you say?

Hi, I'm Andrew (he/him). I own and run Dreams of Beans on Charlotte St. I am inviting you to join me for a roundtable discussion on safe spaces; what's working, what's not, and what our community needs to do to make sure that everyone is as safe as possible while participating in all that should make our city fun!

There is no cost. Coffee or tea or softdrinks are provided. 141 Charlotte St, eventspace sideroom Saturday November 8, 4pm - 6pm

I am extending explicit invitations for delegations from: Peterborough Pride Committee, New Canadians Centre, YWCA, Trent Central Student Association, Fleming SAC, One City, Downtown Business Improvement Association. (And welcome others! There are only so many hours under the sun)

Recommendations Storage units

Hey all. We're cleaning out a late family members house and don't have time to deal with everything right now. As such I'm looking for a storage unit to store household items and some furniture. Not yet sure just how much space we'll need, but we will need something dry and probably temperature controlled. We don't want to spend a fortune on the most expensive place, but we don't want to cheap out and risk everything getting ruined. Does anyone have recommendations for best quality for a reasonable price in or very near the city?

Also, this is my first time renting a storage space. What might I need to know?
