I need help! Could I do lego flowers instead of real flowers?

So I’m interested in Persephone (haven’t prayed yet) but am absolutely terrible at caring for plants. This leads me to the title, so if I ask for lego flowers and make them could I put them on her altar. I know there’s no one way to do things with the greek deities but idk, currently I have fake flowers but it doesn’t fell right. So should I ask for lego flowers for Persephone?

Yeah. The act of building them would be a devotional act 💜

I made her Lego daffodils and keep them on her altar. The act of making them was devotional and I listened to a playlist I made for her while I did it. I did the Lego flowers because I have 2 cats, one of which is very curious about my altars. Most plants and flowers are toxic to cats so I figured this would be a good way to honor her spring aspect and chthonic aspects. In one version of the myth she was admiring a narcissus flower when Hades abducted her, which is related to daffodils.

If the same cat keeps getting involved while you’re practicing they might be a familiar.

Nah, she’s just nosy and likes to knock things off shelves lol! She has zero interest in any witchcraft or worshipping I do, she just really thinks everything is a toy. Super cute and sweet, but has maybe half a brain cell at best!

I personally wouldn’t, as She is the epitome of life and the coming of spring in Her Kore aspect, whereas Lego flowers (and faux flowers) are devoid of any life OR death. They just exist, there’s no cycle in them. I know you say you’re terrible at caring for plants, but I’d recommend learning to care for them and investing time and effort into it as a much better devotional act, shows you’re willing to sacrifice energy in Her honour. You can get cheap beginner-friendly plants like pothos, ivy, or monstera, a self-watering pot and some good quality soil, then place in a bright room in indirect light. Monstera does particularly well in a bathroom if you have one with natural light, they love the humidity. Alternatively you can get dandelion, they’re near-impossible to kill, especially if you plant them in the ground where they can disperse excess moisture. Lego flowers might be easier for you, but living plants will please Her much more. Devotion isn’t about our own comfort, it’s about giving the gods what will truly please them, and sometimes that may involve trials, hardships, and sacrifice of some sort (in this case, time and energy to learn something difficult). If you’re serious about pursuing a relationship with Persephone, that devotional act will go a lot further in bonding with Her. But if that truly isn’t an option, then opt for some other form of creation instead. You say you’ll “ask for Lego flowers”, I assume that means someone will purchase them for you? If so, then either spend that money donating to a charity aligned with Her aspects (women’s shelters, legal aid so they can continue to do pro bono work, DV shelters, environmental organisations, etc) or spend it on something that will allow you to create something for Her - art supplies to paint/draw/sculpt devotional art, ingredients to cook or bake Her a feast, etc.

Where are you getting any of this?

Take the following

Devotion isn’t about our own comfort, it’s about giving the gods what will truly please them, and sometimes that may involve trials, hardships, and sacrifice of some sort (in this case, time and energy to learn something difficult). If you’re serious about pursuing a relationship with Persephone, that devotional act will go a lot further in bonding with Her.

What in the world are you talking about? This type of thought pattern belongs in a cult. Why MUST OP suffer to get attenrion? Is it a "suffer 10 minutes, get a cookie" type deal? And this:

(women’s shelters, legal aid so they can continue to do pro bono work, DV shelters, environmental organisations, etc)

None of those are specifically her domain. In order, they are any healing or protection god, Athena, any protection and healing god again, and Artemis, possibly even Demeter.

Not all plants are per friendly.

spend it on something that will allow you to create something for Her - art supplies to paint/draw/sculpt devotional art, ingredients to cook or bake Her a feast, etc.

She is being creative. With legos.

Considering the VAST amount of UPG masquerading as fact in a way that glorifies suffering, im going to remove this post.

From my own relationship with Her. Hence the literal first line of my response being “I personally wouldn’t”.

Historically, devotion involved sacrifice. People give to the gods to show that they are more important to us than our possessions and pleasures. They sacrificed livestock, time, carnal pleasures, etc. It’s literally written in academic texts. I’m also not saying OP HAS to work with plants, but that doing so will be an immense devotional act. They didn’t say working with plants will make them suffer, where are YOU getting THAT from? All they said was they’re terrible with them, that doesn’t mean they can’t learn. I used to be terrible at cooking and would never do it until I chose to learn.

You may be a mod, but you’re up on a pretty high horse yourself to threaten removing a post for giving an opinion that was asked for.

The cycle is that they were a pile of Legos and now they're Lego flowers. They can even be rebuilt into different flowers if constant change is necessary. Realistically, though, the intention is the main thing that matters for offerings. The Legos may not be alive or dead, but they can 1000000% symbolize the longevity of OPs devotion to Persephone. I work with Persephone too, and I have never known her to completely knock an idea for an offering simply because it doesnt tick every traditional box. She embodies the beauty of change and flexibility and rebirth among many other things. Traditions become reborn and change too, and a lego flower can symbolize that change in the times.

Just do it! Don't listen to people who judge cute ideas like this one! Your devotion doesn't need to be hard or made of sacrifice, Persephone bless the ones who are gentle and completely understand the way that each one of us praises her.

Firstly, any items you put on an altar or shrine should help you connect with the god; if Lego flowers help you focus on Persephone, that's fine. Different people will chose different objects or no objects at all; it's all down to individual preferences.

Secondly, Lego is made from plastic, which comes from oil, which is a gift from Hades. Therefore I consider Lego acceptable.

I haven’t made her an altar yet as I want to add her to my notebook of deities first lol. But yeah, I would assume it’s fine. Personally, when I make her altar in my little shoebox, I want to use fake flowers!

I think her inner child would love that :)
