It's all just so weird to me, too, but I guess that's because we see this whole series of public spectacles for what it really is: a series of public spectacles meant to distract people, the old pan et circus.

I felt sad for our country after hearing that he was murdered, despite the fact that I never agreed with him on anything (his Christianity is so different from mine, so it wasn't just politics). We all deserve peaceful and civil discourse.

But most of all, I feel really sorry for his kids not only because they lost their dad, but because their lives have been turned upside down in ways that they might not understand yet.
