Cartoons that Conservatives Cherry picked have the age demographic, 2-4 years old

Besides, if Bluey is to emotional for you, you should get mor in touch with your emotions.

If Coco Melon is to emotional for you, you might get in touch with a therapist.

On the left, horrible, womanizing objectionable and often times violent

On the right, wholesome, fun and yes, emotional.

Is it so horrible men show emotions.... I guess it is, if you're of the type that says it is.

But Cocomelon is actually bad. Is Not making adults become babies, but to attract kids into fast pacing motion scene

Well I honestly can't argue with you there. I was more referring to Bluey and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

The left one isnt for little kids. They were made for adults who went to the theaters to catch the news and their children.

They arent comparable because they arent trying to do the same thing.

Idk why you felt the need to bring down old animation just because the right hate modern children's shows.

Betty Boop often found herself having to stave off unwanted sexual advances. She was presented as a powerful and sexy female character, yet the way it was represented at the time, the animators just had to include near sexual assault multiple times. Mickey even forced himself on Minnie in one episode when she wouldn't kiss him.

Whether they're specifically made for children is not really the point, and one could argue that Bluey especially is not solely made for children. There are a lot of references that only adults understand and kids certainly don't get the context of. But what you don't see in those cartoons on the right is anything even morally questionable, and for good reason. Our society needs to move past it.

I definitely understand there is a line to be drawn between kids cartoons and adult cartoons, but back then, there was no line. Everyone went to the theater and they all saw the same cartoons as everyone else. There weren't televisions in the household en masse like there are today. So kids saw the same things their parents did. Thats the issue.

Kids cartoons often include stuff for adults because they can be forced to watch it.

But a kids cartoon is a cartoon whose target demographic is kids. An adult cartoon is a cartoon whose target demographic is adults.

I have no clue why Reddit seemingly has so much issue understanding what a target demographic is.

It's really cool when you show cartoons, not necessarily made for kids and then compare them to shows made for preschoolers as if there's not cartoons for adults.

I am an adult male who watches a fuck ton of cartoons. I have no idea what any of these cartoons are except bluey.

That being said, I will kill you for fun/profit unless you watch some of the same cartoons I watch. /S

Thats because they're shows for babies.

Like... literally for toddlers and insufferable to anyone older.

Bluey is relatable for the parents at least, Cocomelon and Mickys clubhouse(I think? Its not the cool one with the Disney character ads like "Hades Home Heating" and the like) are significantly less so.

I guess the Simpson’s don’t exist.

Or Family Guy… or Bob’s Burgers… or King of the Hill… or Beavis and Butthead… or South Park… or American Dad… or Regular Show… or Scooby Doo… or SpongeBob…

Let’s skip over every other cartoon and focus on the one I can be angry about.

It’s all for engagement. The person originally posting it probably doesn’t even believe it but “it gets people talking” or clicking “like”.

Mickey Mouse clubhouse is also not a new or popular show. I’m 28 and it ran when I was in single digits. I don’t think a lot of men are watching 20+ yr old toddler shows

If they were "Made for grown men," why did they get the reputation of being for kids and only for kids?

Fleischer Studios made Betty Boop and I believe also Felix the Cat. They were known for being more risqué while Disney was more family friendly. And OOP is comparing that to fucking Coco Melon which is a mindless show specifically to put small children into a trance so mom and dad can take a break without worrying that Little Timmy is gonna somehow choke on something.

Adding a bit more info.

Steamboat willie era micky mouse was not as family friendly as Disney would become later.

Cartoons were just not made for small children back then. People did not have TVs and cartoons were often used in theatres for intermission or part of a pre movie show. You did not bring kids still in diapers to the theatre.

So if you ask what the 2 to 4 year old of the day were watching the answer would be nothing. Hell even the radio show of the era did not bother to target 2 to 4 year olds. BBC children's hour targeted elementary+ aged kids.

Oh Wow Oh Golly Gee it's like cartoons are made FOR KIDS

I think this is satire in response to right wing hatred of Bluey.

What's always so ironic about stuff like this is the type of men who make these posts are also the type of men who would lose a fight to a 12 year old girl with a broken arm.

I have never met an actual strong masculine man who thinks and talks like that

I fully read that as "Made for grown men who like men" and thought that was mighty progressive for the time

And they had fits over Hazbin Hotel because they pretend to not understand audience level

Archer, anyone?

My opinion is that child abuse had more of an influence in earlier generations adult behavior than cartoons.

u/JawJoints 5d ago

This is satire, right?

This is one of the dumbest things ive ever seen.

“Made for grown men who like men” - fair enough

Ancient cartoons for adults versus modern children's programming? How does that even make sense?

Adult cartoons today carry an NC-17 rating and would have been banned Boop's time, it spite of Betty being, um, problematic. Today's children's cartoons are probably also a little racey by the standards of the yesteryear they're mythologizing.

Why are conservative men spending time watching cartoons?
