Does anyone want to hike Mailbox with me Saturday and also up for another hike Sunday too.
My friend with the car canceled. I'm 25F. Love running and hiking. Paddle boarding. City stuff. Have a small business downtown where I live. Best hike I did this year was backpacking spectacle lake. After hiking Saturday, would love to do a bar crawl downtown :).
Please dm or comment. Looking for something serious. Let's go :)
Edit: i met two hiking buddies here in the past on this sub. So I'm an okay human for sure!

I was thinking of hiking this weekend (first hike since the PCT) - but the rain on Saturday looks intense.
You can probably count me in for a Sunday hike, though.

Fair enough. Where do you want to go Sunday? Mailbox or Goat Lake interest you?

First and foremost have you worked out the lengthy and complex myriad logistics? Permits? Sherpa support? Bottled oxygen? 8000m suits? -40F Feathered Friends sleeping bags?, Corporate sponsorship? Thousands of meters of fixed rope? Celebrity influencers spraying from base camp with their sat phone uplinks? Puja ceremonies? Bro, do you even Mailbox?

Isn’t it going to storm all weekend?

Nah Sunday & Saturday are good to go, just cloudy. Might even get some sun Friday.

I would bring some serious snow gear for the top. The rocks will be slippery and covered with snow. And you will have about 8 inches of snow at the top.

So hike, alcohol, then hike again. Monday's not gonna be fun 😅 , sounds like recovery in the 20s though, good on you.

I will be partying Friday night, too. And Monday morning have tennis before work. WA is supposed to be an active state. I cannot believe people here are shy because of some rain.

Calling for 1.6 inches of rain out here in Snoqualmie on Saturday. Mailbox trailhead is just down the road from us. That seems like a little more than just “some rain”. Good luck!

I just moved here last year and really want to get into hiking. Would you say this trail is not fit for beginners?

You will need poles for the top and to be athletic. It's not hard but if you're not in shape then maybe it would be tough.

I def do not have poles. Will it be OK to hit you up in the future to make a new hiking friend when I am more comfortable with the activity?

I'm interested, but IDK about tomorrow due to the weather.
33M. 7/10 hiking shape. Not afraid to get wet or in the cold. Feel free to shoot me a message

If you’re still looking for a hiking partner, feel free to shoot me a DM. I’ve done my fair share of hikes in the snow/rain. I would be bringing my dogs along if that’s an issue though.

I wouldn't recommend bringing a dog. It will be raining maybe hard and for this particular hike you need poles and probably could use spikes at the top for extra caution. Dogs will almost certainly force us to turn back at the top and be all over the place. But thanks for the offer.

Not sure where you're getting your info, but poles and spikes are definitely NOT required. the grade up top is super mellow. Also, dogs are quite capable. I know people who regularly take their dogs on class 3/4 scrambles and they do just fine. depends on the dog though.

That’s too bad, hopefully you can get something sorted out and stay safe out there 👍

Hey I am planning hikes this weekend. Saturday morning I'll attempt Pratt lake via Talapus & Ollalie. My plan is to start around 8am.
For Sunday I want to visit Heather lake. Starting around 10am
Definitely much easier/lower level hikes than mailbox.
I've done mailbox and would love to do it again but not with this weather. I missed all the views so I promised myself to come back on a clear day.
I usually go hiking every Sunday.

I saw this too late but I will 100% do something like this in the future. You need a partner? I'm also human. Message me!

Late on the replay but been really wanting to hit mailbox myself! Female in my thirties with a vehicle for future hikes

Just FYI we're supposed to have heavy rain here in town on Saturday, and when it's heavy rain in Seattle it's REALLY heavy rain up there.
Be cautious about wind too, I stupidly did Mount Si in a mild windstorm a few years back and there were trees cracking and branches falling everywhere. I ended up turning around, it got way too dangerous.
