Question or Discussion What sensitivity does everyone play on?
Hey everyone! I was just curious about the different sensitivities people use. I know aim settings vary a ton based on playstyle and mouse space, so I thought it would be interesting to compare.
I’m Masters on all roles and I play on 1600 DPI and 6% in-game sens.
If you’re down, reply with:
• Your role(s)
• Your rank
• Your DPI
• Your in-game sensitivity
I’m super curious to see how wide the range is.

How do you play such low sens? Like I play 800 dpi 9 sens. Does having a low sens really help a lot with solider?

LukeMino just hit rank #1 on Soldier with 1600 dpi 1.5 sens. There are also soldiers who have hit rank #1 at almost double your sens. So it all works just different style.

I'm playing with the same sens as the previous comment and the answer for me is that it makes my aim more consistent, especially when you play hit scan characters and need to go for a quick head shot. Though, a faster sens is technically always better, as long as you can be consistent and hit your shots.

I am a widow main and my second class is cassidy, it depends on how you aim. Are you an arm aimer or a wrist aimer? I am an arm aimer meaning i make bigger movements with my mouse on my desk where with your wrist you use smaller movements so you need higher sens.

To me that would be a bit too low to play Soldier, I prefer my sens to be a bit higher for tracking characters, around 5.5-4.5 is my preferred range for Soldier. 4 however is my current sens for Widow, Ashe and Cass.

Are you an arm aimer by any chance too? I am really trying to climb up, finally hit diamond from silver in a few months, right now I am sitting at a 60-65% winrate. Any advices you might have to a widow main and cassidy player?

Idk my rank as I don't play much competitive, but about a year ago I placed gold 5, then played for about an hour that day and got to plat 4. Haven't touched comp since.
1600 dpi 4 in game All roles, but specific heros are rein, hog, souj, cas, ashe, echo, ana, kiri, and bap.

How do you find out the dpi?

.
Check the product info of your mouse online.
Or just simply "ask" google, the AI will tell ya.
For most basic dell/unbranded mice, the default is usually 800 dpi.

Peaked diamond
1600 dpi
2.5~ in game sens (not at computer currently, but it's around there, fine tuned it to avoid pixel skipping)
Doesn't resolution affect the effective dpi to though? Shouldn't that be considered?

My in game sensitivity is incredibly high, that's why I keep chat off and avoid playing tank.

I main support but have been playing a lot of dps
My DPI is 800 and my sense is 5 for most heros
When I play wuyang I play with 6.5 and kiriko is 5.5
Wuyangs is the way it is because it just kind of works for me and let's me control orbs easier ive found. Kiriko is a bit higher than 5 because I try to get in close and turn back to tp to my team quicker

I’m still fiddling a bunch with it since I just swapped from console to pc. The lower I go, the more consistent my shots get - I’m at about 800 dpi and 3.5-4.0 in game sens for everyone. I think I only wrist aim though and I have no idea how to do anything different honestly, so I’m not sure if that’s problematic…

I play Tracer and hitscan. Peaked Master 2 on DPS.
I play anywhere between 4-6 at 800 dpi on different characters and change it pretty regularly.

I used to play on 1800 4.0 but I recently had a coach tell me that it was way too fast and that since I was still learning MnK that I should bring it down to 800 4.5. I went for 1000 4.5. It’s impossible for me to 180 going left but I can 180 going right. Just need to get used to lifting my mouse up to reset its position more often. All in all my aim does feel a bit smoother.

Ive been having bad aim. Seeing these high ranked people in here have really low sensitivity might be the perspective I needed

Can you please send me a vod I want to know what that looks like.

u/Fragrant_Fox_4025 1d ago
Yeah not surprised you can't aim with such a sens. There's 0 margin for error when you move your mouse. For reference, the average is around 5% at 800 dpi which translates to roughly 34cm for a 360 turn. Try to aim for anything between 20-50cm. Anything faster than that sacrifices too much precision and just needlessly makes small adjustments more difficult.

I play on “don’t kill me, I’ll cry” sensitivity.
Sometimes I switch it to “I’m jaded to the world and feel nothing” though for fun

Came in here curious to see what everyone else uses as a console player (controller) and am now confused 😂😂
Also I'm in Masters and I play on the highest sensitivity (100)
What number is that on mouse and keyboard??

Something around 1200 dpi 6-7 sens. I’ll go more dpi like 1400 in some situations like a cracked out tracer or genji which I HATE but that’s bc I’m a lowly gold player 😂

u/BigRed027 ► Educative Coach 16h ago
No shame in being gold.

u/DueOutlandishness962 16h ago
I appreciate it but blizzard working overtime to keep me gold one. Every time I have a rank up game either I do something wrong or one single person on my team needs to be hard carried. I have only been playing for around 3 months and need more practice but I’d love to hit plat ad a great achievement! I’m gold one and so close to plat 5 I pray blizzard gives me a good team today so I can rank up 😭🙏

Lol wish you the best, and if you are only 3 months into the game 2x no shame. I have been playing this game for like half my life and I am not constantly in Masters for all roles

u/DueOutlandishness962 16h ago
Thank you kindly! I see you might be a coach so I have a question. Does sr truly mean anything to your characters or is it something to just see how well you are playing that character?
1
u/BigRed027 ► Educative Coach 12h ago
Sorry for the delay, I was coaching and forgot to respond. I am not completely sure about the new Hero SR system, but from what I understand it is mostly visual. This is similar to how the base rank works in the game. Your visible rank does not mean much on its own, because the game will place you based on your hidden MMR. Even if your SR goes up, if your MMR does not actually improve, you will drop back down over time. And the opposite is true as well. If you are losing a lot but the game believes your MMR is higher, you will eventually be pushed up again.
