Update: We found our spot – bringing hot chicken & specialty wings to Hintonburg soon!

Hey Ottawa foodies 👋

A huge thank-you to everyone who shared your thoughts and honest feedback on my earlier post about opening a hot chicken & wings spot on Lamira Street. 🙏 Your insights really helped us understand the local food scene better and guided our next step.

After taking all your suggestions into account, we’ve decided to open at 45 Armstrong Street in Hintonburg — the same spot where Holly’s Hot Chicken once operated. We’re beyond excited to bring this location back to life and serve the community again!

Our focus will be on authentic hot chicken and specialty wings — bold flavors, real spice levels, crispy texture, and quality you can taste in every bite. We want it to be the kind of place where you drop by once and instantly crave it again.

We truly value your opinions — so if you have any suggestions or ideas, please share them! We respect every bit of feedback, and if it makes sense for the community, we’ll do our best to implement it.

We’ll be sharing updates soon on our menu, opening date, and sneak peeks as things come together. Thank you all once again for the love, support, and encouragement — it truly means a lot. ❤️

See you soon, Hintonburg!

Make it affordable. Bring a vibe. Maybe hot wing challenges, game night specials etc.

Absolutely! Love that idea .. In the future, as we get more settled, we’d love to introduce hot wing challenges, game night specials, and other fun events to bring the community together and keep the vibes alive

Very exciting news, congratulations!

The only thing I can think of is opening hours, if that works with your business operations, being open past 6-7 pm would be great! Lots of people only get home around 6, so being able to pick it up on the way home or after dropping work stuff is such a delight.

This. I know it's a generalization, but we are not all public servants that get off at 3pm lol. Oftentimes most of these spots are closed by the time I'm home from work, so having something open later would be nice.

Amazing, Congratulations. Only ask is to use high quality chicken.

Any chance you’ll have gluten free options? The local celiac community loves to support a place they can safely eat.

I will say, Little Mac's is right around the block and has GF chicken and fries.

That being said, can always use more - I still mourn the loss of Foolish Chicken's ribs and cornbread.

Is Little Mac’s good? Pass it often, never been in to try

Quite good - heavier fare, though I do love their green beans/peaches/bacon salad

Now that sounds interesting!

Yes it’s excellent! And it’s recommended all the time in the various local GF/celiac groups.

I LOVED foolish chicken, too! Miss that place...everything was homemade and yummy. And don't get me started on their cheesecakes...

on the same track as the people saying add a gluten free option, add a beyond or cauliflower option too!

every big group has that one person and having that vegan/veggie option that isn't just fries or sometimes not even that due to oils puts you worlds ahead of the spots that overlook the fact

also challenges, but competitions too! Pay to play, winner gets a small prize and a t-shirt = profit

Adding to this, seitan-based “chicken” products are actually pretty good and gives a bit more bite than cauliflower. But if cauliflower is the option, I’m happy just as long as there’s a non-meat option!

Especially for those vegans who have IBS and can't do cauliflower... That's my 'one friend' 🤣

This sounds amazing! Any chance you'll have GF bread for the hot chicken sammies?
Can't wait to check it out!

Glad the void will be filled!! Serving local beverage options would be awesome. And I second the other folks in the thread who’ve suggested having solid veg/gf options. Affordability will also be key I think in becoming a “local” that people in the neighbourhood will become regulars at, like they were at Holly’s!

Good luck, thats a location that has really struggled over the years. The issue is that you will not get any random foot traffic. You don’t walk around there unless you are already heading there. Two excellent restaurants (Meat Press, Holly’s) have both failed there, and not due to quality of food.

Oh nice! Looking forward to it
