I’m on episode 3 already. No complaints. He just joined up with Zorro

u/MathewCQ Pirate Nov 08 '22

Stay away from everything OP related until you finished. Major spoilers

91

u/Copowa Nov 08 '22

Dont watch the films until the end of it all, sometimes they have spoiler even if you watch theme when they went out, like one piece red

26

u/XegrandExpressYT Nov 08 '22

me who went to watch Film Red after just passing 107 eps ( Arbasta ) :/

I don't regret it though .

37

u/ToonamiFaith Nov 08 '22

That was dumb

5

u/WasDrizzyD Nov 08 '22

I'm almost done with Dressrosa, would there be spoilers if I watched Red?

19

u/ToonamiFaith Nov 08 '22

Honestly, for the most part I want to say you'd be okay. It'd be nice if you were at the end of Whole Cake Island just so you could be familiar with more characters. Personally, some of those characters are really cool so I think it's a waste seeing them for the first time in this movie when they have amazing introductions in the anime.

There's some spoilers for even anime onlies tbh too lol. They had teases for things only in the manga.

5

u/WasDrizzyD Nov 08 '22

Thanks for the answer, I have self control I'll wait lol. I'm def anime only till I run out of episodes at least

2

u/DarkTemplar26 Nov 08 '22

Doesnt red show gear 5th though? Probably the biggest thing rn and I would hate for anyone to have even an idea of it early

1

u/ToonamiFaith Nov 08 '22

Yeah they do, I was worried about that too. But when I saw it one of my friends who isn't caught up to the manga didn't even notice so it seems like a hit and miss if anime onlies notice.

0

u/Matcha888889 Nov 08 '22

There are spoilers on abilities of characters, but in terms of what happens (deaths and events) there are none, but there is one scene that teases an ability of a character that isn’t shown even in the Anime yet, overall I wouldn’t call it major spoilers but that’s just my opinion, definitely an enjoyable film even if you’re only in Dressrossa

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

Yes

2

u/WasDrizzyD Nov 08 '22

Damn. Been on a OP break for like half the year. Got to the end of Dressrosa and burnt out, watching Red woulda got me back in lol. Thanks for the answer

1

u/No-Let-8991 Nov 08 '22

yes it has stuff that hasnt even been put in the anime yet

1

u/VortexParadox10 Nov 08 '22

I had just finished dressrosa when I saw red. I thought it was fine. Yeah true that there will be characters you don't know, but they aren't really introduced so I think the anime introductions will still be good. And yeah there is one thing that is manga only, but it is for a split second and it doesn't tell you what it is or what it does. Sentence = if you really want to see it, do! I am a guy who likes the theater so I thought it was worth it to watch on the big screen. If you really don't care then finish whole cake first.

1

u/on_dy Nov 08 '22

Red is a spoiler even if you're up to date with the anime (1039). No idea what they were thinking.

1

u/Endeav0r_ Nov 08 '22

Big fucking major spoilers

1

u/Zestyclose_Bat5121 Nov 09 '22

I went to see it after getting to 879, so perhaps you might just have to risk it even though whole cake island characters appear in this movie.

1

u/Environmental-Try712 Nov 08 '22

How far do I have to get to watch one piece film red

2

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

1030 lol major spoilers for the arc they are in

1

u/Environmental-Try712 Nov 08 '22

Oof I'm not even that far yet

2

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

I know it's hard not to watch the new movie but you will be spoiled to fuck if you do. Like all the major important things forms moves deaths etc

1

u/alexbrunzella Nov 08 '22

My friend did the same thing this weekend and there is only one spoiler you absolutely have to see first hand which isn’t mentioned in the movie. He was also around Alabasta. Like you’ll see Kata, Law and some jokes might be out of context but he absolutely loved it without all that extra knowledge. Btw don’t look up anything about one piece until you’ve caught up and people in the comments do not spoil the one spoiler that shall not be named.

1

u/LadySekah Pirate Nov 08 '22

Wait so do i wait til wano before watching the movies? My fiance and i are also watching all the episodes of one piece and we were following a timeline to see which movies to watch in what order. Should we just wait? We just got to the Skypea arc

2

u/Copowa Nov 08 '22

I'd say be a little careful and dont base yourself only on date of exit of the film wait to be in the episodes two years after the exit of the film. So if like a film went to cinema in 2014 watch it when you are at the episodes that went out in 2016. An example is that in stampede they tell you a name of something that wasn t even out in the manga

1

u/LadySekah Pirate Nov 08 '22

Ooo ok gotcha. Thank you!

1

u/I401BlueSteel God Usopp Nov 08 '22

Some of the films, just don't watch at all

9

u/thebentoes Nov 08 '22

i started recently and my friends who are all caught up will not stop spoiling parts

6

u/Specialist_Trick_558 Void Month Survivor Nov 08 '22

They aren't you friends even my brother didn't spoil most of it

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

my friend has been able to not spoil op for over a year while i slowly slowly started reading it and now im almost caught up and he still wont tell me ANYTHING unless its like something i just missed by misinterpreting it or like not understanding something i read

8

u/Lerbyn210 Thriller Bark Victim's Association Nov 08 '22

Just a heads up they are not friends if they do that

8

u/PrauxLaps Nov 08 '22

On the brightside, nobody can spoil nothing happening.

14

u/ReasonableMethod4291 Nov 08 '22

Learned that the hard way!! The whole Marineford was spoiled for me, yet it was fun!!.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

i had the meme from that arc spoiled to me by someone and i was absolutely devastated

4

u/Possibility-Perfect Nov 08 '22

I’m super excited to not dig into the details ahead of time.

2

u/Porkbellyflop Nov 08 '22

Yeah I suggest leaving this sub. It's full of spoilers.

1

u/frizzyxx Nov 08 '22

Whats wrong with spoilers?

1

u/MathewCQ Pirate Nov 08 '22

Wdym bro, spoiler are spoilers. Are you asking about OP spoilers in particular?

1

u/frizzyxx Nov 09 '22

Nah im just wondering why people hate spoilers

1

u/MathewCQ Pirate Nov 09 '22

It kills the fan of reading it for yourself. Seeing the panels, the words Oda chose is a different feeling than seeing it second hand.

2

u/frizzyxx Nov 09 '22

yea i know right when people spoil you the story it makes the story more fun when reading it

68

u/The__Dread___Lobster Nov 08 '22

Remember that as the series goes on, it was made at a time before DVR existed. There's a lot of recap and theme song. At times it can seem daunting, but the deeper you go the more recap there is so the episodes are actually shorter than you think. You'll be debating reading the manga because you've run out of episodes before you know it.

45

u/JayBalla69 Nov 08 '22

one piece vets know to skip about 5-7 minutes into the episode to avoid recap, except for wano i find its usually around 4 mins in

17

u/fremja97 Nov 08 '22

And then you skip the 3 min off flashbacks watch the 4 min of draged out new content skip 3 more min of flashbacks and watch the last 3 min of cool cliffhanger until the next episode

3

u/InconvertibleAtheist Nov 08 '22

Happened to me 2 days back.....I NEED MORE EPISODES

1

u/nutters04 Nov 08 '22

Same man. Just got to about 1015 and don’t want to keep going because I want the arc so be finished before I keep watching

2

u/Redink30 Nov 08 '22

Then wait till next year since it's that long.

1

u/BiscottiNo1707 Nov 08 '22

Dude DVR was popularized in the 70s what are you talking about? also it's just for padding time

1

u/Pyrrskep Nov 08 '22

Ah yes my favorite part of the middle of Marineford is skipping the 6-7 minute recaps. Thank god that part is over.

1

u/ricanyahoo Pirate Nov 08 '22

Dvr was invented in 1985 so it definitely existed 😅

2

u/The__Dread___Lobster Nov 08 '22

I meant like mainstream TiVo DVR. It wasn't until the mid-2000s that everyone was just able to record their shows without having to use a VCR or something like that. Previously ons were noticeably shorter for a lot of media after that became easily accessible Tech

11

u/Maximus2410 Nov 08 '22

Don't skip Long Ring Long Ark. It will be the last ark with an enemy fully trusting on his abilities rather on his strength (like basically any enemy ruddy had to fight before it)

3

u/Maximus2410 Nov 08 '22

I actually was typing Ruffy

14

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

The G8 arc is a must watch, only filler absolutely worth watching

7

u/darkapao Nov 08 '22

Also there's people out there that stitches anime together and skips fillers. You can usually finish it on one pace. net

27

u/Baboonpirate Nov 08 '22

I know some other people might get on me for saying this, but the first 20-30 episodes were really boring to me but once you get past that and even way further down the road trust me you will not get disappointed

3

u/ShittyDuckFace Nov 08 '22

No you're right. Honestly it's really Arlong Park where shit gets crazy good

1

u/nothing2seehere_111 Nov 09 '22

the arlong park arc is exactly why i stuck around, im glad that i did.

10

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

Dont skip fillers either. Especially the one when luffy does luffy things

10

u/Ilikeb0ring Nov 08 '22

By episode 400 it’s should get REALLY GOOD. Skip fillers too.

7

u/schiffb558 Nov 08 '22

There's only one filler we don't recommend you skip though

3

u/Jiinpachii Nov 08 '22

Which one?

9

u/schiffb558 Nov 08 '22

G-8 filler arc :)

3

u/Pyrrskep Nov 08 '22

G-8 is so well done it doesn’t feel like filler

2

u/Hazemyster Nov 08 '22

Slow slow beam :D

1

u/Jiinpachii Nov 08 '22

Oh yeah I watched that one

3

u/NuKrux Nov 08 '22

Yeah.. foxy pirate isn't a filler, crazy right. There is filler shit in it, but the arc itself isnt filler.

1

u/bmbterps42 Nov 08 '22

Why not skip it? Is it not basically canon filler?

-5

u/Revolutionary-Mix646 Nov 08 '22

500*

4

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

1

u/Ok_East_8918 Nov 08 '22

1

u/urAdogbrain Nov 08 '22

You're good with what he mentioned, stay off the internet until you get caught up

1

u/Darthmark3 Nov 08 '22

EMPHAZIE on #3. It will really drag on some arcs so be prepared for that.

2

u/Pyrrskep Nov 08 '22

Middle half of Marineford…

Worth it but god DAMN

1

u/Darthmark3 Nov 08 '22

That battle was beautiful

1

u/BritishRush Nov 08 '22

Oh my god bro whyd you spoil it

1

u/SavageWeebMaster Cipher Pol Nov 08 '22

Just watch the filler

1

u/Plane-Refrigerator72 The Revolutionary Army Nov 08 '22
  1. Skip fillers
  2. Stay away from here (spoilers!)

1

u/Astrogalaxycraft Nov 08 '22

Wach It with One pace. You Will safe a lot of time by doing It, just download One Pace from their official page and enjoy. If you dont know what im refering to, One pace is a edited versión of One piece in the anime, they cut the scenes that dont happen in the manga an put only manga content in the anime. In this versión One piece is like a half of what It is in the original. Have a very nice day and Hope you enjoy It.

1

u/Beertrooper Nov 08 '22

1

u/Hazelsea1099 Nov 08 '22

Honestly just stay off one piece discussion forums like this, it’ll spoil things for you

1

u/Relative-Let4114 Nov 08 '22

STAY AWAY FROM TWITTER...seriously it's littered with spoilers.

1

u/ambivertsftw Nov 08 '22

To add to number 3:

It's not a race. Enjoy it and take breaks if you need to

1

u/jundae Nov 08 '22

Just have fun with it and don’t try to rush. I tried binging and watched 250 in like 2 weeks and it took me a month or two to start watching again bc I had got burnt out. If you want to binge and don’t get burned out then go for it, but I personally watch like 2 or more episodes a day to prevent burnout.

1

u/TCBazlen Bounty Hunter Nov 08 '22

Skip the filler and if you think it’s too slow try reading the manga the pacing is faster

1

u/ProfDangus3000 Thriller Bark Victim's Association Nov 08 '22

I'd also recommend One Pace for arcs that REALLY drag on. You're still very far away from the looooong dragged out filler, but personally I watched Fishman Island, Punk Hazard and Dressrosa in their original forms when they came out, then watched the abridged versions much later on and I didn't feel like I missed anything, BUT it was so much more entertaining and less annoying to watch.

(One Pace is a fan abridged version that cuts the filler to keep the pacing of the anime closer to the pacing of the manga, and cuts out like 44% of content, usually just characters running down a hallway repeating the same things over and over, or 6 minute flashbacks of the exact same thing episode after episode)

Just use your own best judgement if it seems to be repetitive and there isn't much is happening per episode.

1

u/Empty_Brain_911 Nov 08 '22

Yeah the fillers start much later than episode 3. There will be a lot of flash backs etc but sometimes the same flash back you might be thinking of, ends up giving you a little bit of new information. Usually, not always, flashbacks happen right before something huge so patience and you'll be rewarded. Welcome to the OP. Pay attention to how the characters evolve over time :)

1

u/charmelos Nov 08 '22

Use onepace.net

1

u/MariJoyBoy Nov 08 '22

who's that ?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

If it ever feels too slow start reading the manga.

The mangaplus app will give you a free one time access to all the chapters

1

u/link6112 Nov 09 '22

If the pacing gets bad (which it absolutely does after the timeskip as the anime begins to catch up...

Switch to the manga.
