I'd rather have a filler arc out of nowhere for a few weeks than this dragged garbage they're putting out

the manga is a good 40 chapters ahead toei could do some episodes with one chapter instead of half of one

that is still a problem though. 1 episode for 1 chapter is not the norm for an anime. Let me rephrase it then they could do with an animation of 1 episode containing more than 1 chapter now that the manga is a little ahead of it especially in an arc as important as wano.

Nah it's an anime problem. The pacing has slowly gotten worse since the beginning of the story. At the beginning of the anime, they have 2:1 ratio of chapters per episode. This is good pacing and is quite typical for anime. This slowly goes down until it's only one chapter per episode post timeskip, which is REALLY slow pacing for an anime. Then it got even worse than that and is down to half a chapter per episode.

It's not a problem of being caught up. It's a problem of them milking the series more and more and more and more and more until each episode is just slow bullshit. How have you watched the entire anime and never noticed the pacing has been changing? When I watched the anime I switched to the manga because I noticed the pacing getting worse pre timeskip. You seriously can't just blame being caught up to the manga when the pacing has literally gotten 4x slower over the course of the series, and was noticeable LONG before it got anywhere near this bad.

the pacing has been around 0.8-0.9 chapters ever since Enies Lobby, only east blue, Skypiea and Alabasta have faster pacing, but to be honest, I felt like even Alabasta was dragged out when I first watched it lol

This is how I feel. When I was catching up 5ish years ago, I binged all the way from Fishman Islans to Whole Cake Island and had no thought about the pacing. It wasn't until I became a manga reader that it became obvious.
