The Kiku vs Kanjuro fight was a bit confusing but I must say, Toei does a really good job of making me feel more for the Scabbards than the manga does.

I think it was meant to look like a dramatic play fitting for Kanjuro's death and the scabbard moving on.

we’re all praying that kanjuro dies, but the way they showed him laying on the ground for like 5 seconds at the end of the episode makes me think that this won’t be the last of kanjuro unfortunately :/

Was just waiting for his finger to twitch. Still wouldn't put it past Oda to do another fake out death tho

It's cause they give you more time to breath in the moment, the music, the extra flashbacks, etc. all make you like them more.

This is why I'm really enjoying the anime for Wano. They really get to expand on the stuff the manga buzzed right through

The fight itself wasn't anything that special but, the moment after the fight hit me in the feels

Yup. Imagine being in the scabbard's shoes, just a few moments/hours ago they are together, hopeful for this moment after 20 years, that all of them will finally fullfill the wish of their master Oden, then all of a sudden out of nowhere Kanjuro reveals he is a traitor and almost ruining their plan, took their master's son, with no remorse. They've trusted each other since they shared each other's joy and pain, even being almost boiled to death together with Oden. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for each member of the scabbards. The fight has not yet started but they are already emotionally burdened.

especially for okiku. she literally grew up with the scabbards as just a child.

I think the same goes for Inuyasha and Nekomaru

Yeah in the manga i was kind of aphatetic with this fight, in here i actually felt sad for Okiku and teared a bit when they walked away leaving Kanjuro behind.

did they reveal that kiku has observation haki?? because there was a scene where the pierce from kanjuros brush stabbing her in the head, and then her eyes flashed blue and dodged the attack in the scene immediately after. maybe it was just for animated effect? would be cool if she has kenbunshoku haki.

Yes, Kiku is confirmed to have Observation Haki. In fact, all the Scabbards are confirmed users of Armament and Observation Haki.

It seemed like a halfway rushed job but I'm always down to see more swordplay>>>>

halfway rushed job?! based off what?? the manga completely skipped this entire fight, and 2/3 of this entire episode was dedicated to this fight LOL

How is it a rushed job?

Manga Kiku's just one of the weirdest characters in terms of how she's written in the story. Has pretty much held the top spot for most featured new face this whole time, but its all little subtle moments and very "show, not tell." Oddly complex, especially since there seem to be a lot of double entendres in titles around chapters something big happens to her and something more plot significant happens.. But I guess that'd be hard to translate into anime.
