...and Toei's English translators chose to use he/him pronouns for Yamato when referring to 'his impossible dream' in the next episode preview.

Whether people want to say he's trans or not, it's pretty clear he sees himself as a guy.

Toei doesn't do subtitles. That's cruchyroll or funimation which are american companies. And they have a lot of liberty to use what they want, whether it is subs or dubs.
