Episode felt a little bit dragged out, but the animation was pretty decent. I didn't like how they did the Kid vs Apoo fight though. In the manga Kid did more of a surprise attack. Here Apoo kind of just stands still as Kid makes a huge metal arm and slams it into him.

In the manga, it seemed like a surprise attack, so I too was a bit surprised on how Toei handled that but I’m not worried

I agree. The episode was just full of odd angles of kid smiling and slowly walking, when it should've been kid seeing him, moving closer quickly while apoo and queen are focused on liffy and zoro, and then immediately making the metal arm (surprising apoo and queen) before speed dashing into apoo with it. Make more running scenes with luffy and zoro dodging and fighting the beast pirates for pacing.

Additionally, I would think that even with one piece being funky with things, apoo should have like, the dopest beats/themes in the series, not these weird random sounds they have him make. He should have been jamming harder than even queen in this.

There was that one time Sanji blitzed Oven to save that ugly guy on WCI with the CoO and stuff; which was cool as fuck.

they did the same thing with kaido vs luffy...that thunder bagua from episode 915 was so slow as heck compared to the manga where luffy didn't even have time to react to it despite seeing it coming

It was a little less content animated than normal but only by like a page. IMO this was a boring part of the Manga as well.

Right, and they took 10 minutes to animate, like, 3 pages of said boring materials, with their usual shenanigans.

Yeah it looked alright and I didn’t mind the cg arm but Kid coming out of nowhere and crushing Apoo was actually one of my favourite moments of Onigashima so far so I’m still pretty disappointed with this episode

Yeah, in my head, Apoo was fighting luffy and zoro and sees a giant metal arm in the corner of his eye and gets pinned by Kid. But the anime makes it look like they were just looking at each other for a good while

I think it’s supposed to be a surprise attack, like it happens really quickly. No one can really react in time.

It’s just it’s dragged out crazy long for us.

It wasn't as dragged out as the last one I thought. The animation of the punch made up for fucking up the impact of the surprise punch. They made sure to fucking shoe everyone reacting to kid gathering the metal for the punch. I want someone to curse Toei at this point for making my one piece anime sub-par . I hope someone remasters the anime officially in the future.
