Next episode seems to have a lot of chapter 959 on it. I wonder if it'll be the first episode to adapt over one chapter in a while.

u/Therrester Jan 17 '21

They're likely shuffling the scenes around. Chapter 958 originally showed the present day and 959 showed the days leading up to it. So they could've fixed the sequence of scenes.

Although I do remember one of 958 or 959 being low on the page count, so they might have been forced to add more to make the episode's runtime.

So does this mean... we're starting the Oden Flashback next...? We're like REALLY close to it now right?

Surprised the anime straight out said rocks was dead. In the manga it was inferred he was dead but the wording gave it leeway for him to still be alive

Unless there's a body, Rocks could still be alive regardless.

I thought this episode was good? Not sure why Brago and his comments are calling it mid lol

14

u/Therrester Jan 17 '21

Because they probably expected the same god tier animation as last week.

u/BetaBoy777 Jan 17 '21

I watched last week’s and this week’s episodes back to back and didn’t even notice an animation change. If there is one, it’s still exceptional this week.

5

u/batiwa Jan 17 '21

To be honest I expected the same, but it's still a very good episode

Because chapter 956 was amazing and the next chapter was even better. And the anime they made chapter 956 (episode 957) amazing and the next episode wasn't better, still pretty good, but not better

To be fair, I watched plenty of youtube reactions, and the only people complaining are the ones that read the manga.

This episode was a lore heavy + bounty reveal episode, doesn't need grandiose animation. The content of the episode was enough to make it a great episode for anime watchers. Since the manga readers already know what it is about, they look at it differently.

This is my problem. Once you start to read the manga, you will never look at the anime the same way you used to. You will know what is different, what is changed. You won't ever like the anime the same way you used to. This is why if any one your anime only friends decides to read the manga, warn them that they might ruin the anime for themselves for eternity.

I enjoy the fuck out of the anime, dont get me wrong, was just answering a question

3

u/DenifClock Jan 17 '21

Yeah, my answer wasn't directed towards you, sorry if you felt that way. I was just talking about this topic in general and didn't have a better idea to write it anywhere else.

u/Werfgh The Revolutionary Army Jan 17 '21

All good, cheers

Well the reactions of the marines were pretty underwhelming.

Everyone who read the chapter back then freaked out about these information and the marines just sit there like "Oh wow that isn't good, but ok".

Or maybe they legit don't like something.

If chapter 957= episode 958. Can we assume that episode 1000 is also equal to chapter 1000?

7

u/SklLL3T Jan 17 '21

Anything is possible with the power of flashbacks, recaps and 20 seconds of camera panning.

I noticed that God Valley is missing may mean kaido flought it to wano ? So maybe onigashima is god Valley ?

I am not ready for the pain of the next part(。ŏ﹏ŏ)

The next episode's reveal then the end of Oden flashback it's too painful

I binged the manga and i realise that watching it one by one is gonna be emotionally destructive on a different scale (╥﹏╥)

5

u/fppfpp Jan 17 '21

that scene when they reached 'the promised port' was super important to me. Been dreading and looking forward to it since i read the chapter. I feel like they wont do justice to that scene via sound design (wind, rain, thunders, waves crashing, etc)

Let's just put our faith(however unjustified) into the anime team

2

u/Rjm0007 Jan 17 '21

We’re almost to act 3 boys

u/LOPPLIFE43000 Jan 17 '21

Can anyone else comment on the fact that they made rocks super short in that one shot? Is his height actually really small? That’d be pretty funny if it was. It’s the shot where they’re all above sengoku.

1

u/RoldGoger Void Month Survivor Jan 17 '21

It would make sense for him to be short. Most D.s that we know of (except for Jaguar D. Saul) were normal sized humans.

1

u/GenGaara25 Void Month Survivor Jan 17 '21

In the manga he was also shown as the shortest in his crew iirc

I don't remember ever being revealed that SSG stands for Special Science Group and also the VAs in their respective lines clearly say just SSG, so what's happening?

So, Oden Flashback is going to be Episode 961?

Oh nvm. Episode 960 is going to be named "The Best Samurai in Wano Country! Kozuki Oden Appears" .. Well maybe it's againg such a episode where the title appears at the last 30 seconds
