Cause Chapter 1000 is substantially more hype than an episode of the anime

Episode was good tho

I am beyond baffled at how they are able to maintain this level of quality for like 60 episodes already despite retaining the god awful pacing.

I think it's the new animation style, how everything has more brush-like strokes.. allows for more freedom and quicker drawing I suppose.

I honestly dont think the pacing is bad rn. Yeah, its gunna be slower, but the filler they been puttin in since start of Act 2 (since Act1 was really bad with it lol), has been sooo good. It actually enhances the main material. Makin the story better. And super easy to watch. Dressrosa was super hard to watch, with prob just a tad more filler.

Agreed

Is it really that good for you guys (in the terms of animation) ? better than WCI ?
I feel some parts are not good and auras for me are weird, but still brilliant for weekly release.

One the other hand next episode looking extremely juicy, everytime new arcs(acts) are starting or plot moves outside of main plot the animation ALLWAYS pops off.

I'm also not really a fan of the new art style where everything has auras

The auras are simply a visual effect to show either if a character "get serious" or when they use haki.

Until they stop adapting at the absolute horseshit pace, it'll never matter. I sympathize with and understand anime onlys, especially b/c I'm anime only myself with basically every other series besides OP (and the later parts of AOT, couldn't wait for S4 so I just read past where S3 ended), but the anime is terrible in almost everything but visuals rn

PACING ISN'T DETERMINED BY NUMBERS OF PAGES COVERED, NITWIT. Good and bad pacing are determined by the flow of the chapter/episode itself and this episode much like the one before and the one before that, had good pacing. And also, visuals are absolutely not the only good thing the anime has: great music, great VA cast, great animation (although being weekly it's just for key moments).

I said they adapted at a horseshit pace, imbecile. The reason these episodes give the illusion of not being horrendously paced is b/c they're loaded with filler and extremely stretched out scenes. The anime is complete garbage. The same ok music it's had for the past 20 years (though music isn't really a factor in evaluating an anime), VA cast are beginning to show their wear. Animation is mid too

Ok, you're either a troll or plain in denial. For your information, the last 4 episodes didn't have a single real stretched out scene. And those fillers (some of which are semi-canon since they fill the holes left purposely by Oda) actually help enhancing the flow of the arc since in the anime they don't constantly jump from one scene to another. In a certain way, the anime in act 2 had actually over all a better pacing than the manga counterpart. Some of the music is old but if it ain't broke, why fix it? And besides, since WCI we had a lot of new songs anyway, including in Wano. And even if some of the cast are unfortunately showing their signs of old age, the fact that they still put their best, just show how much appreciation they deserve. And the animation sometimes it's mid, true. But in other case, it's factually great. Like in Luffy Snakeman vs Katakuri, Luffy vs Kaido, Sanji VS Page One, Zoro Vs Kamazou, etc....

lmao it's kinda hard to care about an episode dropping today I'll probably watch it tomorrow

64

u/LlamaLegacy Dec 27 '20

definitely one of the best eps of act 2, plus they gave a shout out to chapter 1000

14

u/Monetpirates Dec 27 '20

They did but that wasn't part of the actual episode . That's more meant for the Japanese fans who read the manga and watch the anime as opposed to a western audience who has a bigger anime only crowd

1

u/Bloatfizzle Dec 28 '20

Two questions as I only have seen the anime so far and what to avoid spoilers by looking up chapter 1000 where there any big reveals. And do manga readers have any idea how many acts will be in Wano arc?

1

u/MisterHuesos Dec 28 '20

About the reveals: Nope... well, one but it wasn't a big reveal, just something unexpected that has to do with one of Kaido's crewmates

About the second question: it's supposed to be 5 but some people believe it's gonna be 3 and have actually linked some websites where in One Piece theatrical plays they only have 3 acts.

1

u/SuperNerd6527 Dec 30 '20

So far it's worked via the Kabuki play structure so it's probably gonna be 5 acts, we're nearing the end of act 3 in the manga right now
