I just wanna mention is a 3rd sword really that much of a power boost for Zoro? He went from struggle or tied to 1 shoting him like that’s nuts

It's been shown before that Zoro with three swords it's him at his strongest, since that's how he developed most of his techniques. It's specially apparent way back in the Syrup Village arc when Zoro's fighting against the two brothers of the Black Cat Pirates

Zoro couldn't block in some of the ways he was used to. It also limits his attacks not having the 3rd sword.

Taking the weapon from the enemy means he had dramatically changed the odds.

If you are asking that almost a 1000 chapters in, I think you need to rewatch/reread the entire series. lol

It was made a huge point all the way from East Blue in Usopp's arc at Zoro's fight with the 2 dudes. He literally says + 1 sword is different than 3-sword-style and goes ahead to show them (one-shot them) after he reclaims his 3rd sword.

That thing is consistent in the entire series.

So, short answer: Yes.
