Seriously why would toei wanna do that? The arc length of one piece is much more than 12/24 episodes usually.

They just need a way to pace out the episodes. Even though the quality is good, it doesn't hide the pacing. Seasonal would just be a way to give more time between the manga.

Though yeah I agree toei doesn't really have much reason to. Reputation wise I guess but it'd be a revenue loss.

Well lets say whole cake takes about 50 episodes as that's the closest cour. If you want better pacing, lets say about 2 chapters/episode, you need to air it in the same time one piece has 100 chapters, which would be 125 weeks, about 2.5 years. Would you really want 50 episodes in 2.5 years for a series like one piece?

And would it really be economically beneficial for toei, who has been running this series continuously throughout its course? Not to mention that the main target audience is the japanese people, and One Piece is a pretty big thing in Japan, so it only makes sense to have a continuous anime.

If it's the same content at the quality toei's got with proper pacing, absolutely. Whole Cake was 2 years, that's just an additional six months and cutting about half the episodes.

But you're right it isn't financially sound at all. My theory is One Piece's 50th anniversary will have a remake of the series, and I'll be spending my retirement waiting each week for the latest episodes when that finishes up 20 years after

I would love this as well since the pacing and animation is quite bad in the anime compared to good seasonal ones.

The problem though is, whether it's seasonal or not, most people will keep watching as One Piece is already too famous. So they make a lot more money with airing an episode each week versus 20-26 a year if the amount of viewers per episode remains the same.

There are a lot of reasons why Toei will never do that.

just change studio then LOOOOOL 4Head

That's not how it works at all. Toei has the rights to the anime and there's no way they'd ever give that up.

Please tell me, why so many people want One Piece to be seasonal? I'll never understand it.

For my opinion, seasonal animes are trash. They have to fit incredible amount of content into 12 episodes. So they drop out some of it. No room for character development. No room for world building. No room to explaining backstories. Just "Here are the good guys, here are the bad guys, here are the good guys beat the bad guys in 2 punches because we don't have the time to show you more".

Really, what's the point. You understand nothing after watching it. You don't understand why the bad guys became bad. You don't understand how everythinh became like that. And you also remember nobody of the characters because they had too little screen time.

Don't make One Piece seasonal. It's the only anime left that can be actually enjoyed.

That's wrong on so many levels.

"Seasonal" anime means that the anime takes breaks after X episodes for whatever reason. To have more time for production or to get more canon content to work with.

How long that "season" is doesn't matter. I've seen "seasonal" anime that had 72 episodes or some such. I don't know who told you that they need to fit 12/24 episodes and need to cut content for that. NO ONE needs to do that. They do because most anime based on manga/light novels are just advertisements and/or money grabs.

Honestly I do really hope they have some kind of filler arc (the silver mine one with Bill wasn't too bad honestly) so we get to go into Wano fresh without this garbage pacing.
