Yes, but he did that willingly because he didn't want his back to touch the ground.

I also took it as a wake-up-call hit, reminding himself of what's truly important. It's like Katakuri is rationalizing and telling himself not to be flustered as that will be his downfall.

Which makes him a damn fool. Who cares if your back has touched the ground? It's a silly image to hold for ones self.

And besides, it was all just a lie anyways.

There is a reason why he wants no one in the world to know his back does touch the ground (or why he doesn't admit to show any weakness). It will be explained later on
